I'm pretty good at masking but there are times when the mask starts to slip and I have to force it. But I have found that if I force it too hard my brain starts to try to push me into going nonverbal. If I'm not able to leave the conversation fast enough then I start to stutter. I don't think it's just anxiety or something I'm making up.
Also if someone who normally has a stutter, or who has a stutter from anxiety if you could explain to me how it feels so I can gauge whether there is a difference just let me know!

I have stuttered as long as I can remember. Usually I stutter if I am very nervous or highly stessed about a social situation. I can tell that I will stutter because my brain and my voice don't work in synch, causing me to stutter. Also, there are words that almost always cause me to stutter. Words that have an "uh" sound in the beginning, like aluminum, eleven, Hawaii, etc... I must change these words so I can say them. For example, I say "EE-leven" with a long "e" sound. Otherwise, I practice avoidance in stressful situations.

I don't really stutter, but I can stumble over my words. But with me it's an ADHD trait, as I can talk too quick eager to get what I need to say out, which can cause me to stumble over my words.

I also mumble, even when talking loud, but I think it's my slight overbite that causes this. It's not too noticeable, but just makes people not hear me the first time and I have to repeat myself.

I don't stutter or stammer but I do trip over my words a lot or sometimes stuff comes out like word salad.

I have something that may be kind of like stuttering that's more likely when I'm tired, anxious, stressed or doing lots of talking. I know what I'm intending to say but it's like my tongue quits responding correctly & I start kind of slurring kinda like drunk people somtimes do. The more I try to talk the worse it gets. Taking a break from talking for a few moments sometimes helps & drinking water sometimes helps as well.

I have Essential Tremors which can sometimes cause my hands & arms to shake when I'm doing things related to fine motor-skills & it can be worse when I'm tired, anxious, or stressed. Essential Tremors can cause voice tremors so I used to assume my occasional speaking problem was due to that. However after doing some research I relised that Essential Tremors affect the voive by casing problems regulating the tone & pitch which I do sometimes have as well but is a seperate issue. I'm not sure what disorder is causing the slurring problem.

I stammer over my words from time to time. It's embarrassing when I start to stutter.
