I just don't fit in and I would rather not go to groups because it's a way of protecting myself. I tried a online autism group for adults but in the people in the group kept changing and I couldn't keep track of people's names and they were talking about mental health topics. And here I'm thinking I don't want to discuss mental health topics with nameless strangers. I can't make friends in groups.

In my experience, I don't get on with other people just because they are autistic. There needs to be more to a friendship or relationship than that.

That would be very hard for me to deal with.

But you read where you joined: a group of autistic people (mostly)! And we're all unknown and nameless: at most a made-up nickname...
Um! :)

I'm too timid to make friends with other people and besides people have become so rude now.

Yeah, this is relatable. I have also had some bad experiences before with some of the big, mainstream social media platforms. I recently stumbled upon this website and saw that this place is busy and has hundreds of new comments every day and appears to be a friendly community that is moderated. And so I decided to take a chance, going through the effort of creating an account, typing a few comments, and even coming up with a profile picture and editing it to be within the 130x160 pixel limit.

Anyway, yeah, just because another person has one thing in common doesn't mean that you will get on well with them, or that they will even be a decent type of person with a kind heart.

As for me, I like video games and music. As for sports such as baseball, football, and so on, I have nothing against people who are huge sports fans. It's just that if someone starts talking about sports, I most likely won't know enough to even really be able to participate in the conversation.
