Sometimes I hate the internet. Always conflicting information.

What is the shelf life of a Merlot before it spoils?

It depends on how long the wine is exposed to oxygen. One can increase shelf life by immediately transferring wine to smaller bottles.

I buy small boxes of wine and squeeze the air out as I drink the wine. Lasts for weeks.

I solve the problem by drinking the whole bottle in one session.

Or did you mean the shelf life of an unopened newly purchased bottle? In that case, probably several years I should think, maybe decades in some cases.

You would have to make sure that the temperature was just right. You really need that anyway.

Years ago, I drank some wine that had gotten too warm and it made me puke like crazy. I was sick all day long from that wine.

I thought the point of red wine is that it gets better with age

^ It depends on the wine and storage conditions.

This is useful when the wine is opened and still bottled -
