Protesters violently try to disrupt Turning Point Event

Smoke bombs and chaos: Turning Point USA's final tour stop ignites tensions at UC Berkeley

Turning Point USA held its final stop of the "American Comeback Tour" UC Berkeley, which was met with a crowd of masked protesters who set off smoke bombs outside of the event.

Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet shared a video inside a packed Berkeley auditorium of attendees chanting "Charlie Kirk" while holding posters of his face.

"Despite Antifa thugs blocking our campus tour stop with tear gas, fireworks, and glass bottles, we had a PACKED HOUSE in the heart of deep blue UC Berkeley," Kolvet wrote.

Meanwhile, outside of the building, Frontlines TPUSA shared a video of masked protesters holding signs and lighting firebombs. One protester was driving a car with a traffic cone on the roof. The account described the protest as a "war zone."

An ANTIFA member just lit off a flare resulting in TPUSA event attendees being rushed inside," Frontlines TPUSA wrote. "A car then comes and starts backfiring visibly scaring multiple attendees who feared they were hearing gunshots."

At least four people were arrested, Mercury News reported.

Unfortunately violence is the only language right-wing authoritarians understand. You can't reason with fascism. We tried giving concessions to Hitler and he just ended up demanding more and more. That's why World War II was absolutely necessary. So I really don't give a crap about any acts of violence committed against fascists. Their entire existence is defined by violence.

As much as I find a lot of what Turning Point advocates for reprehensible they are not the brownshirts. While I find a lot of how political advocacy is done in the 2020s such as watch lists beyond the pale, they are not considered out of bounds by today’s standards. They don’t riot at “woke” events.

Fascism centers on nationalism Turning Point is at its heart about religious fundamentalism.

Charlie Kirk made millions of dollars spewing hate rhetoric and inciting crowds on university campuses. Is it any wonder turning point and Praeger U aren't welcome in university campuses.

What did all the rioting after George Floyd get us? Trump 2.0

Hitler comparisons are often offensive to the memory of the people Hitler killed. They are done so often that they have lost gravitas. This makes the people roll their eyes when that accusation is made. This has the effect of the seriousness of the bad things people, both correctly and incorrectly, that are being compared to Hitler have done being minimized or dismissed.

Trump 2.0 had nothing to do with the George Floyd protests. What happened is Trump successfully capitalized on people's racism and bigotry by running on mass deportation of immigrants.
