One of the few things I get to enjoy in life is a burger and chips once a week with friends and like 2 strong beers once a week. The nurse told me with my high cholesterol there's a "high likelyhood" I could have a stroke later in life.

Hope when I speak to there health expert next week they say I can have some beers once a month. Hope its not like just two normal strength beers

Beer doesn't contain cholesterol? Seems moderate use can even decrease cholesterol...
Not healthy but more towards other issues including (other) heart issues and diabetic.

There are a few classes of meds that are used to lower cholesterol. There's also a supplement called Niacin that might could help. I'd recommend having a discussion with a doc about ways to lower your cholesterol. I'd also recommend doing a little research before trying supplements.
