I told some of my older friends at the pub that my younger mates put me in the back of the boot of the car a few times. Last night there was a confrontation between them at the pub over what they did to me.

This morning on whatsapp I am getting abuse frin then

Was I in the wrong for telling some of the regulars that I was put in the boot of a car and should have kept it a secret?

They shouldn't have put you in the boot...

What you seem to be saying is that they're your betters and were compelled to do what they did to remind you of that. And out of respect for them you dare not grass them.

Such is the world.

Your older mates sound like good mates, Jamesy. I'm really glad they stood up for you.

Your younger mates are angry with you because they knew all along they were doing the wrong thing.

I'm sorry.

You didn't do anything wrong.

I think you can talk about anything that happens to you, if you want to :) if someone tells you something about *them* sometimes it's a secret. But stuff that happens to you is yours and you can surely tell whomever you want.

(That is what I think... unless there is something I am not understanding, like you love riding in the boot, you asked for the privilege, they reluctantly agreed and checked in a lot to make sure you were fine and comfortable. Then maybe they'd have an excuse.)
