I don't have any problems with talking to people at internet forums, I feel especially comfortable on linux-related mailing lists and boards. People on the mailing lists or forums don't even notice I'm autistic or outstanding, others sometimes give to me some advice, review my scripts, send patches, I also give someone tip and everyone is satisfied. I also don't have to force myself to talk, when some idea how to reply to someone comes to my head I just type answer and then click e.g. at Thunderbird send.

On the other side, I have serious problems with talking at IRC, services like Discord, everywhere where group consists of more than three people. The speed of communication doesn't matter in the groups larger than three people. People often receive me as being impolite, rude, off-topic and I can sincerely own that I have serious problems with following topic on the group chat, not matter if it's technical or chit chat channel.

Does it make sense to force myself to try harder to talk on IRC if I feel discouraged by many tries and failures? Do my problems with talking at group chats come from lacking social skills?

How probable possibility is that especially IRC communities like channels on Libera are more sensitized to statement tone due to their code of conduct etc.? If it's true, it could partially explain my troubles with communication on IRC but question why talking to students at Discord also goes badly to me is still open.

Have you tried to participate in any chatrooms specifically for autistic people?

If not, perhaps you might try that?

Same, not matter if group consists only autistic or neurotypical people.

I have problems physically speaking in a group, but not in text.
It feels like I'm trying to customise my communications to each participant, then translating it to the other participants and then trying to compromise the difference.
By the time I know what to say the conversation has moved on.

Why can't I see the magic microphone people pass around to show when they can speak without bus contention.?

There.
That's what keeps me permanently confused
bus contention!
