I don't know if this is normal with ausies, but I cannot sleep unless a list of conditions are met. I literally will not until they're all done.
1. The lights have to be on. I'm not afraid of the dark, so not sure why but I can't sleep if the lights are off.
2. I have to have noise in the background. Not loud noise, but if I don't have voices ib the background I also can't sleep.
3. I have to be wrapped like a burrito in my blanket, no matter how hot or cold it is.
4. My face most be almost completely covered.

Does anybody else do this? Not be able to sleep unless conditions are met? Hotels are a nightmare for me, cause I have to sleep in a strange bed.

I have an ionizer in my room for this and I also can't sleep in motels.

Not me.
I can very much fall asleep and stay asleep even in the busiest, crowded, loudest, and overall overwhelming of places.
Even places that are not safe to fall asleep on, even during times when I really, really shouldn't; like in a middle of an urgent job. Falling asleep and staying asleep is never a problem. I rarely ever have nightmares and I like my dreams.

Thankfully nothing dangerous like while riding a bike or walking for hours long; that definitely will keep me up.

The catch?
I have no dependable circadian rhythm, sleep length, and quality. Circadian rhythm doesn't seem to exists and makes most of my day job seem very unhealthy for me to live on, my sleep length is a surprise (30 mins to 30 hrs)...
And my sleep quality mostly tend to suck that I'm better off kept awake and skip sleeping altogether at certain days than ever wake up from any sleep, when I'd be waking up sick/basically cannot get up/more stressed/etc...

I like darkness, quiet, very specific pillows and I prefer my face to be uncovered. If sleeping at night. If napping in the day time I can do it anywhere.
I am very particular about my pillows, trying to sleep on strange pillows is a nightmare more often than not. I take my own pillows to sleepovers or on holiday. One of my best friends calls them my diva pillows (I always take them to her house.)
I enjoy sharing a bed with someone for the companionship but I can't sleep if they're touching or facing me. So if I'm cuddling someine I let go when it's time to sleep. I also face away because being breathed on is gross, everyone's breath smells terrible when they're asleep.

I can handle total darkness, but prefer at least a standby LED on a TV so I can orient in the dark. *
I can sleep with the curtains open.
It's not my head that has to be uncovered, it's my neck.
When it's not too cold I hang a foot out of bed as a thermal anchor.
I took the case off my digital clock and wrapped the display in 3 layers of stocking to prevent it illuminating the whole room

* In a dark room the LED is red when looking at it, but green out of the corners of my eyes.
I was expecting colour from the fovea, but wasn't expecting the default colour not to be grey.

Umm
If you use that word 3 times are we required to shout "OI, OI, OI"?

I need a small pea light and some soft music in order to sleep.

I often fall asleep with the lights on, sitting up and with techno blasting in my headphones

It's just something I've got used to since the injury

It's the complete opposite to how I used to sleep before that

I'm not an Aussie btw

Or is "Ausie" supposed to be "Autie"?

Autie, Autie, Autie,... I, I, I.

I don't like to sleep in the dark, because I love the dark so I'm smart and active at night. I go to bed at dawn and sleep during the day most of the time. That's my natural rhythm. I pretty much fall asleep instantly when the sky starts to get bright.

I do wear eye mask and ear plugs because it's daytime. Occasionally I need to change my schedule then I need to take strong sleeping pills. During such time I feel weird, like I'm living another person's life. I'm impressed by things like sunlight, lunch, people working and living their daytime life, but ultimately they don't belong to me.
