Why aren't men being checked earlier?

I came across a story on my phone from the Telegraph about a 45 year old man who was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer days before Christmas. It must be devastating for the guy and for his wife and kids. It does freak me out because I feel like he is not the only one as I know of former Olympian Chris Hoy has it in his late 40s and has metastatised. He was advocating for men in the UK to get checked earlier especially those with a family history and over 45 instead of 50 and the UK has no screening programme except doing a PSA test. In the article there was something there that PSA tests should be available to men age 30 and over but men are not checked at that age. I remember a guy in America who was 35 was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was successfully treated for it. If it's happening earlier to men why isn't it being checked years in advance?

Almost half of men don't get annual physicals. 44% is a number I found that I find totally believable.

We'll all die eventually. It doesn't matter, unless you have time to waste and money to throw away. Have at it.

My prostate is enlarged quite a bit, but my PSA levels are normal.

When it started enlarging, it became difficult to initiate micturition. I started taking Vitamin D for the purpose of improving my resistance to disease and it seems to make it much, much, much easier to get started, often in a small number of seconds.

I tried Saw Palmetto, but quickly dropped them. They made my gums bleed.

A swollen prostate pushes into the bladder and reduces the volume of urine that a bladder can hold.

I often need to go to the restroom about every two hours. That means waking up a lot at night.

On occasion, something strange happens. I don't wake up for six or eight hours and when I get to the toilet, I just go and go and go and go. It's like the bladder is back to its original volume.

It doesn't happen very often, though.

I am curious why that happens.
