Not sure how nutty , this really seems , per CIA standards the usususl process, is to inflitrate the system of gov. on any given area . pay huge sums of money to individuals to stir up bad atitudes towards the current power structure ( gov)
then sabotage various civil services, And have the paid ones rile up the other people about how badly the current gov treats them. Maybe generate a few riots, then replace the gov. leaders there with ones that are sympathetic to the USA
interests . and Voila , the entire country votes to get away from Denmark as a whole. It is our most common method of overthrowing existing governments . Presto Greenland becomes a new State of the US. or a puppet government under USA control.

Trump and his supporters are so devoid of self perception that they can't understand how Un-American and antidemocratic this sort of expansionism into the territory of an ally this is, and how badly this reflects on America's international image.

Denmark and Greenland is a part of EU. Any conflict between US and Denmark will be a conflict between US and EU. For France and Germany it is a matter of principle to stand with Denmark and defending the territorial integrity of EU.
