Is it weird that I have trouble with humor?

For example when my other friend has issues at her job and I ask what she will do, she makes a joke and says "I will come live with you." I fail to see the humor and I find it annoying she answers a my serious question with a joke that she's told more I believe than once. Do any of feel like getting upset with someone tells you a joke?

I can get flustered when someone makes a quip, unless they're specific friends I've built a banter rapport with, because I don't know how to respond. I often freeze like a buffering video or reply with something neutral instead of funny and it does annoy me a bit when someone does it very often. Talking to wind-up merchants is a bit of a mental roller coaster, idk what's round the corner.

Humor often involves body language or voice inflection that may be hard to understand.

This type of humour does not sound like humour to me.... It feels like a backdoor way to get support, incase her circumstances falls apart for her ? And indirectly cause you to be involved.. It does sound like you responded well.
Saying it was a joke by her , Is her giving herself an out in the conversation. Sounded like a very similiar conversation
had with a 18 yr old pregnant girlfriend I knew , back when I was also that age. It was then also said to be a joke .
When I had an established apartment unit. And seemed to be looking like I was keeping up with my bills. And had a reasonable job. (but these are just experiences / Thoughts .)

I'm not all that good with Jokes, they usually just go over my head.

I like jokes, particularly making them, so I guess we should keep our distance. That was a joke.

A lot of autistic people have that problem.

I had a friend that interpreted all jokes no matter how benign as insults, which made it hard to have a friendly relaxed conversation. She was Autistic.

Needless to say we are no longer friends. Who wants to be around someone that you have to walk on eggshells around?
