Former President Donald J. Trump has stated that he believes he has the authority to direct taxpayer money into accounts connected to himself through legal settlements.

When questioned by a reporter on Saturday evening about the unusual situation of being involved in lawsuits both as a private individual and as president, Trump said that “no one would care” if he allocated public funds to what he described as his own hand-selected “charities.”

Over the years, Trump has filed multiple lawsuits against the U.S. government in both his personal capacity and during his presidency. He now finds himself overseeing legal matters related to those cases while reportedly seeking damages exceeding $10 billion, raising questions about conflicts of interest, legal authority, and the boundaries of executive power.

Thank you for sharing and welcome to WrongPlanet! Definitely illegal and immoral if true. Constitutionally only Congress has the power to approve public funds being diverted. Hopefully the courts will shut this down or a lawsuit will be initiated to stop it.

To the best of my knowledge, this administration is easily the most corrupt administration in US history.

Much worse than Nixon.

Nixon's administration had corruption issues in relation to the Watergate break-in and the coverup. In general, though, Nixon was actually quite competent and not trying to run everything in such a way as to fill his own pockets.
