Conservatives expect liberals to be better than them.

The commonly used phrase "So much for the morally superior left" is very telling. When conservatives use this sort of rhetoric, what they mean is "How dare you use our own tactics against us! You're supposed to be better than us!" I think there's this expectation among conservatives that when they go low, the leftists and liberals will go high. When they go low, and the leftists and liberals also go low, conservatives get all riled and indignant about it.

A good example of this is how MAGA got upset over the campaign ad that had people outright saying "F*** Trump!" Conservatives threw a fit over the lack of civility and decorum from someone running for office. As if their own cult leader hasn't been violating civility and decorum for the past ten years. Conservatives hold leftists and liberals to a much higher moral standard than they hold themselves or their elected officials. They expect leftists and liberals to be more moral than they are.

This really says a lot, doesn't it? It's like they're acknowledging that the left is better than they are, yet they still vote for the conservative politicians, whom they themselves apparently view as less moral than the leftist and liberal politicians. I've literally seen them express anger towards Biden for not changing Trump's tax policy, even though they themselves voted for Trump. It's like, do you like Trump's policies or not? Make up your mind.

This is why I've been trying very hard to not let myself get overly indignant over hypocrisy anymore. Pretty sure that's a surefire way to go completely nuts, and for what? So I can get called hysterical and a radical anyway? It's like finally punching a bully back after years of abuse just for them to crumple to the ground and start wailing and pissing themselves and now YOU'RE the one being called "uncivil". Meanwhile, they cheer on literal murders, assaults, war crimes. They literally worship a proud rapist and then get full of righteous rage when a "sexual deviant" like some gay guy or a trans kid is visibly non-heteronormative.

Nearly everything they say is BS. At this point, I'm more annoyed with liberals who BEG us to "just get along and meet them halfway ". Sorry, I don't feel the need to be overly sweet to someone who just threatened to assault me if he ever caught me in the public bathroom, nor do I want to be all that friendly to the people defending that guy for "just being a good Christian Conservative with different viewpoints". I don't feel the need to "agree to disagree" when someone says something violent and racist just for fun. I'm not going to avoid politics when they're at the dinner table telling me to my face that concentration camps aren't so bad and actually ICE is heroic.

I guess I just don't see the value in "turning the other cheek" the way they do.
