The British media is apparently going crazy over this photo of "Bigfoot", or whomever you'd want to call this blurry image taken on Mars in November.

How many of us Aspies believe that this NASA photo is of a man on Mars? The photo is authentic, not altered, but it's quite blurry indeed, and could easily be just a fortunate angle from which we're viewing a rock. I mean, let's use our heads: There's no microbial life on Mars, no vegetation... I mean science itself shows this cannot be a humanoid lifeform, so it's not even worth considering. I just laughed out loud when I saw the article! :lmao: NASA has not made any statement on it whatsoever. This was just one of the full set of photos they regularly release to the public. It was bloggers who first saw this "creature".

How many different ways can we bust this myth?

It obviously isn't alive, but it certainly is an interesting rock formation. Or perhaps a shadow.

edit: I didn't see the request for scientific reasons. Well, hm. We haven't discovered any life that can breathe martian atmosphere, let alone EAT ROCKS. That doesn't mean it is impossible, just ridiculously improbable based on current knowledge. But hey, speculation is the root of science.

Hmmm, looks like a desert training camp for Jihadists - and if that's the case, do we really consider them humanoid, and have they infected Mars now?

There have been several anomalies discovered on Mars.A pyramid formation or structure,a huge face formation or structure and others.

The "Face on Mars", as subsequent photos have proved, only resembles a face when viewed from the correct angle, at the correct time of day (or, if we're being pedantic, at the correct time of sol...). From other angles, and with the shadows falling in other directions, it's revealed to be a random jumbling of boulders. Only the human need to impose visual patterns makes a "face" appear at all.

I have seen no pictures of pyramids on Mars. Have you a reference for this?

As for busting the myth, I thought it was sufficient to see that the link was to Fox News...

Well, in that case, it is obviously a swamp harboring a secret government base. Those fools showed us their hidden plans!

Or perhaps, since Fox News is so enthusiastic about the "Moon Hoax," this picture was really taken in a studio.

I think it clearly shows a Martian sandboarding down a hill on Mars. His friends are probably waiting for him at the bottom of the hill.

NO! There's so much we can learn, like how to eat rocks, and how to sandboard. We should initiate peaceful contact, to get samples of their rock-eating and sand-boarding technology, which are probably years ahead of our own rock-eating technologies.

Its a ventifact - rock shaped by sandblasting winds in the harsh Martian climate.

Apparently the vegetable kingdom in Mars, instead of having green for a dominant colour, is of a vivid blood- red tint.

Cool! Ya, that sounds like the best explanation.

I guess next, they'll be investigating the "man in the moon" face.

A hundred million light years from here, a race of beings that look exactly like this rock formation are looking at this pic and having this same conversation.

- Hey! Bob! Come look at this! It looks just like your mom!
- Screw you! Oh. Hey, you're right, it does look my mom! That's totally freaky, yo.
- Sure is. Wanna go probe some cattle?
- Alright.

It's pretty typical of humans to anthropomorphize everything.

Maybe so, but I thought it was a picture of a cow clutching her throat and singing an aria - so the singing part may be anthropomorphizing, but the cow part is animalizing.
