I've never liked touching anything wooden aside from desks and tables, mostly because I used to be afraid of getting splinters.

treated or finished wood is no problem, but the very pourous nature of unfinished wood really makes me shudder... popsicle sticks *shudder*

I am mostly averse to them touching my mouth.

I don't really have a problem like that unless there is a good chance of splintering.

I love the feel of oiled wood- when it is smooth- the older the better- I could run my hand over it all day when it feels perfect (por exemplo, my kitchen table when I have newly sanded and oiled it...or my collection of wooden spoons that I oil and almost never use).

I can't stand the texture of it on my tongue. Even thinking about it makes me shiver.

Only if there is a risk of splinters or if there is sawdust on it. I HATE SAWDUST!

But I have no problem with Popsicle sticks or wooden kitchen utensils.

Btw, when I first read the topic, I thought they were talking about a different kind of "wood" :P

Wood is awesome. I like using it for sculpture. That tends to require touching it a lot, so I apparently don't have a problem there.

Edit: In one of my sculpture classes, we had wooden mallets with the phrase "WOOD IS GOOD" (actually a company name) stamped on them. Many jokes were told.

well, i love wood shavings, i thnk they are very pretty!

i study wood anatomy once, and let me tell you, identifying woods is not a easy job. you have touch it, feel it, slice it up, and some cases, even smell it. one time, my lecturer spreads about 40 woods on the table, and we had to identify ALL of them. give me nightmares just thinking about it.

I can not tolerate wood inside my mouth. As a kid I avoided popsickles due to touching the wood when the popsickle eventually eroded down to the stick, I usually ended up throwing it away before it got to that point.

Walking on any wooden surface is difficult, especially so when the wooden surface happens to be wet. This is difficult whether shoes are on or not. This problem only pertains to unfinished wood, if the wood has been varnished or coated then I have no problem.

For me wood is good material (but I dont like to touch a "raw", unpolished wooden board from fence surrounding building area). But I dislike to touch rubber galosh, velvet or woolen thing with my nails (especially fresh-cutted). And scratch of rubber boots is really annoying.

I love the smell of freshly cut and sanded wood, specially from wood from conifers.

Oh, and I miss the creaky old oak flooring of my elementary school and high school (both of which were demolished a few years ago.

never really thought about it. I do toothpicks from time to time, but that's it. Wood doesn't bother me, unless it's splintering. Did a temp job in a 'cut to size' room at a lumber company (unheated, and 17 degrees)...hated the temperature more than the wood...
