There is negative atheism, lacking a belief in a god, and positive atheism, believing a god does not exist. Then there are degrees of doubt ranging from fundamentalist Christian (or other religion) shading through agnostic onward to absolute atheism. Then there is level of militancy/evangelism. Measure it as you will.

I am agnostic. It's not even a belief, as it's basically a factual admittance of ignorance. God cannot be proven nor disproven.

I believe that a personal God, that answers prayers, created the world, and is involved in the lives of humans, does not exist.

I'm on the border between agnostic theism and weak atheism. I like the idea of gods in the non-omnipotent sense; but I have yet to find any satisfactory evidence for the existence of any gods.

Regarding the existence of one and only one 'personal' god, omnipotent and omniscient, I'm in the 'strong atheist' category.

De facto atheist. I may not know from deductive reasoning, but to apply deductive reasoning to practical situations --or to apply logic to humans whatsoever-- is really counterproductive anyway :P . I may not "know" metaphysical forces don't exist. But I am 99.99999999 percent sure. Furthermore, the .000000001 percent that says otherwise has no evidence to espouse its claims. It's just happy to be there.

For practical purposes I'm an atheist.

I haven't completely shunned the idea of meaningful identity encompassing that which is normaly considered to be devoid of such thing but it's only an intellectual stance; I'm more concerned about my actual life from an atheistic standpoint.

Sorry - no matter how many times I read that I do not understand it because I probably fall into both of your categories.

I absolutely do not believe in God(s) and I am absolutely positive that there are/is no God(s).

Not only do I not believe in God(s) and dispute that there is/are/could be God(s) but I also have an inherent mistrust of religion.

Perhaps 'Radical Atheist' is a decent description.....

You sound like a "strong" atheist, MaxN, which I believe falls under positive atheism in NeantHumain's classification.

I'm a strong agnostic: I don't know and you don't either.

I'm agnostic in the sense that I have no knowledge of the existance of a higher power and I am an atheist in the sense of not believing in the existance of a higher power for the same reason I don't believe there is an invisible pink unicorn on the far side of the moon or that there is a teapot in orbit around the sun between Earth and Mars. I don't believe in the existance of God, the unicorn, and the space-faring teapot for the same reason, there is no evidence of them.

I picked "Moderate"

IMO one cannot disprove the existance of God for the same reason we cannot disprove the possibility of Bertrand Russell's teapot floating around in space, but there is no evidence for the existance of either so we have no reason to believe in thier existance.

Oh, and I really don't like the "weak" vs. "strong" distinction. Most self-proclaimed agnostics are atheists and most self-proclaimed "strong" atheists are agnostics. The main difference is on emphasis. Agnostics emphasize that we have no evidence for God's existance. "Strong" atheists emphasize that there is no reason to believe in God's existance. This difference in emphasis creates an illusion of there being a significant distinction between "strong" atheism and agnostic atheism.

Nice to see that there are people that can sift through all of the convoluted and misleading definitions. Good job Odin! I think I'm going to like WrongPlanet.

There is a giant octopus munching on a snickers bar in the center of the universe, he also created the universe and everything in it. Just because you can't disprove that statement doesn't mean you're going to believe it are you? It's really no different with the belief of a god.

I'm a very strong Atheist, I know for a fact there is not a god.

I guess I'm a skeptical theist.
