The Faces of Innocence topic

This baby is actually conjoined twins. The other body parts did not form. It is rare for these twins to survive. Theyare fortunate. :)

In conjoined twins, a single egg is fertilized and undergoes a division into two separate identical twins, but the separation here with the Indian twins stopped at the craniofacial stage. Some conjoined twins develop further before they stop separating, like Abbey and Brittany or Chang and Eng, the first documented and most famous conjoined twins.

Google 'conjoined twins' for further information.

Remember, though, these are Daily Heil readers...they don't like anyone who isn't "normal" and dislike them even more so when they're not white...

my only question is WTF is in the water over there? it looks like this sort of thing has been happening a lot there.

I also hope she can play off this reincarnated god angle into adult hood so that she isn't treated like a freak.

I also found the comment about killing the baby if it cant be made normal very repugnant as well. I would rather have two faces than to be ignorant like that any day.

I think it's brilliant that the people over there are treating her like a goddess and celebrating her. In some parts of the world, she'd probably be considered the work of the devil or something stupid like that. I just hope that she continues to be treated this well once she is a grown woman.

Yeah, especially the fact that she is a 'girl'. Many of the people in India prefer baby boys. I find it suprising that this girl was born to begin with because most couples get gender-selective abortions. The boy-girl ratio is really out of balance.

It's sad to think that she is getting attention just for the fact that she resembles a goddess, if she did not, the family might treat her as a burdan because of the drowy the parents will have to pay when she marries.

That may explain why they are so eager to collect donations and offerings while they can.

hummmm. . seems like a parallel or corollary here. Not that there are MORE autistic spectrum folks but just more are known of
same of 'this sort of thing' that is 'happening a lot' is mostly just better reportage and communication. What is in the water is a whole other thing, completely.

I have a couple of big questions about this baby...

1. Besides having 2 faces, does she have 2 brains? If so, wouldn't the baby be "they" as opposed to "she" since there might be two beings capable of individual thoughts?

2. If, by chance, "she" does have two brains--- wouldn't they possibly grow up very confused because everyone treats them as only one person?

3. If she only has one brain ( therefore making her a "she" and not a "they"), which face would people look at when addressing her in public? Or should they just look in the middle?

If she has two brains, they must be fused almost to the point of being one brain. Her two faces are easy to see, but the head behind the faces dosn't seem too much bigger then it should be...

Yeah, pretty sure she only has one brain -- the doctors said they couldn't separate her because everything is encased in one skull.

She can eat with both mouths, breath out of both noses etc. (both are fully functioning) And I think she is a little cutie myself *shrugs*

My husband said that the reason there is such a high rate of severe deformities is that many of these parents are the extremely poor in India and because of the caste system, they have been poor for generations and generations. There is also a high rate of inbreeding, poor nutrition, almost no health care whatsoever. And also in his opinion that they have been this way, stuck in the lowest of the caste for so long, that it is quite possible that they are just starting to de-evolve in many ways.

I hope this isn't in too much bad taste but, when she learns to talk, will she be able to talk out of both mouths at once? Or is it unlikely that she'll survive that long?

Actually, Hindus - like this family - are about the most opposed to inbreeding out of any group in the world. If there's the slightest chance they're related (like great-grandparents with the same surname type stuff) they'll call off a marriage. The most recent inbreeding stories I've heard of have been the Aussie couple and an English couple. It's rare in India; don't perpetrate the lies!!

Good on them for taking the money they can get, I would too if I was that impoverished; you can hardly blame them. I think it's great the little tyke's being treated so well - it's better than being shunned and left in the cold for being a freak, and facing a lifetime of bullying and abuse, like you would do over here.

You think the comments are bad on the Daily Fail, try looking at this story on the Sky News website. I had to follow a story on there today at work and so clicked around a bit; the comments were disgusting. Though I guess it's that kind of a news site.
