I am currently working with a small technology and multimedia company. We specialize in making interactive multimedia and the electronics and computers involved for trade shows. We have many trips to shows which are difficult for me due to massive qualities of people at said trade shows. I also have trouble when my schedules changing drastically when spending a week or more in a hotel room and working long and very stressful day. I was wondering if anyone who has trouble traveling and with changes in routine and has a job that requires these types of problems. I have dealt with a couple of trips which by the end have me exhausted and wanting to quit my job. I am trying to stick with my job as this is the first one that I have held for over a year since holding a very part time job for 3 years in high school.

I know or feel that this job is not where I am going to be for more than a couple of years. But it is the first job I feel successful in even if only on occasion. I am hoping to figure out what graduate program to go into because I feel like I may find a job which is more compatible for myself. But anyways I was wanting some advice with what others do to deal with this type of situation.

I guess I need some advice so I can keep myself from quiting the job I have. I am constantly wanting to quit but am motivated by my parents to continue. Perhaps I should continue to suck it up and deal even if it requires increases in use of my Xanax

Hi! Firstly, congratulations for holding the job down for over a year.

I was at a Conference in the US two weeks. I know how tiring and challenging these things can be. Its almost like sensory overload with all the people.

The key is to think ahead as best you can and plan. I'd write out a list of the things that you need to always take with you: mobile, note pad, business cards etc. Then personal artefacts and, finally, a list of the typical things you will ahve to do there: systematically work the floor, gaining contact details.

As time goes on it will become less stressful. You have done well to get this far and it will become easier as you settlle into a wider routine I suspect.

Finally, if there is an opportunity ask you boss if you can stagger the events a little. I also find that mentally relaxing with regard to the schedule helps me. For example, I dfon't think about getting home, I just take it as it comes and so it doesn't rush. I aceept that I will get there when I get there!
