I hate the friendship rule

Never turn you're friend in when they are a criminal. You must protect them by never turning them into the police.
Give your friend special treatment. eg. Don't give them a ticket when you're an officer.
Always side with your friend, even if they are the bad guy. You must side against the victim.
Never rat on your friend

I hate those stupid friendship rules. No way I would side with my boyfriend if he decided to attack an innocent person on a forum and that person fights back and I go against that victim. But he would never do a thing like that which is good.

You're actually doing a friend more good than harm if you turn him/her in to the authorities when they commit a crime. You're keeping them from doing further harm to themselves and others.

Oh yeah, I also read in stories, if your friend starts making fun of you, turns you in, etc. then they are not your true friend. So I guess I wouldn't be my boyfriend's true girlfriend if he got in a fight with someone and an officer asks me if he was home or not on the night of April 30th and I say 'no' instead of 'yes' so he won't go to jail. Bam he is kept in jail.

In the long run once he/she has realized the error of their ways, but not at first. However, people rarely learn their lessons anymore.

Decide what you think is right, then do it. Don't let anyone blackmail you by offering to withhold their greatness from you. A real friend will respect you and your beliefs instead of expecting you to be "cool".

I think those rules are nonsense rubbish.

Hypothetically, if my friend had killed someone and told me not to tell anyone, there would be no way that I would keep it from the authorities. She/he would be a danger to society, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't tell anyone and they did it again.

hey even if they're my best friend whose helped me through good times and bad if they break the law I'll call the police on 'em so quick their head will spin, I ain't going down with them witht the whole harboring a fugitive thing

Someone who expects you to protect them when they commited a crime isn't much of a friend to begin with. Turning them in will be in their best interest because the authorities
can help them, that would make you the better friend.
