Is this normal? It's starting to increase to moderate pain, which is worrying me. It's like it's being squeezed and jabbed at the same time...

Sounds like when I passed a kidney stone. If it becomes acute go to the hospital. They'll want to do a CAT scan.

Most insurances have a toll free number where you can call and talk to a nurse, do you have one of those numbers? My first instinct when I am sick is to take my temperature, (hey all the DRs do it, must be good for something). It helps if you know what your normal temp is, mine always reads lower then normal at 97.4 so 98.6 is just an "average" some people are normally lower or higher. I think if it is something serious, like a appendicitis, you might have a fever...you could try and google that to make sure. The most common cause for pain I have in that area is.....gas. Sometimes it gets caught in those little folds in the intestine and it can feel like you have knives inside. Hoenstly, I have had pain so bad from this that I thought I was dying  I usually get some relief from gasX ,Maloxx or Pepto Bismal, all cheap and over the counter.

and as the saying goes...if this is the cause..."This to shall pass"<--see, aspie can be funny.

Also...have you eaten anything that you might be alergic to or taken any new medications? Have you been constipated lately?

Just to put ebec's mind at ease, if it were appendicitis the pain would be on the right.

Thank you. I didn't want to panic anyone with misinformation but I asked her to google it because I wasn't sure and didn't want to blow it off and then have someone dye because i said...no worries, you just pulled a muscle or have gas

If it continues to bother you, or any of the below apply, or you have a fever please see a doctor:
Spleen

Thanks, that was one of my main concerns.
It doesn't hurt now, but it's been coming and going all night...

"A ruptured spleen is a medical emergency. If you have pain in the left upper abdomen or signs and symptoms of low blood pressure — such as lightheadedness, confusion, blurred vision or fainting — following an injury, seek emergency medical care."

I HAVE LOW BLOOD PRESSURE! How the hell am I supposed to tell the difference!?!

Quote:
A ruptured spleen is typically caused by a blow to the left upper abdomen or the left lower chest. Sporting mishaps, fist fights and car accidents are common triggers. An injured spleen may rupture soon after the abdominal trauma or, in some cases, days or even weeks after the injury.

An enlarged spleen — which may be caused by various underlying problems, from mononucleosis and other infections to liver disease and blood cancers — may sometimes rupture with trauma to the abdomen. In fact, a ruptured spleen is the most significant complication of mononucleosis.

Do any of these apply to you? Any trauma? Infections? Pressure lower than your normal? That's when to worry. It's probably gas.

That sucks but at least you don't have to have any of your "innard bits" removed :D

:D That's true!
It's mostly stopped, though now I have a really bad sore throat to replace it.

This sounds and tastes pretty disgusting but really works....

Put a few tablespoons of salt in a glass of warm water and stir until it's mostly disolved..a few seconds and then take a few sips and garggle...DONT SWOLLOW or you will swell up like a ballon, (not really). I garggle every few hour and my throat is usually better in a day.
