ok So i am thinking back to childhood and I remember how things went.

growing up I didnt know how to measure how someome viewed me, like my dad for example. I think he didnt think I got enough exercise. Which is true. I didnt. I did get a decent amount thought, I was just always kinda chubby my whole life. Always ate larger sized portions growing up. Always finished my plate even if I was full.

Anyways now when I think about it I realize that he probably suggested that because he didnt think I had much self-esteem/confidence. But I never (instinctively?) knew that and didnt really understand the connection of the 2 and how he might have veiwed that. I don't think I was able to view and interpret how others saw me But then again I didnt have a sense of what my self-esteem was. I feel now that at the time it felt like I was blind to most of that stuff. Very obvious actions I definitly felt, like say if someone punched me which did happen when I was growing up, I would feel real bad about that. But other stuff that affected other kids , mabey the more superficial stuff didnt affect me in any way. Maybe thats why i didnt grow emotionaly like the rest of the kids.

Sounds like part of the definition of AS to me.

Really???? You really identify with this? That would be a great help Im trying to put all of what I felt into words to help myself and maybe other people understand what AS is.

Instead of something basic and linear like the AS symptons I would really appreciate in depth stuff like this.

Can anyone else relate as well?

I was never aware of myself until my early teens.

ok yea I can relate to this as well. I felt what was going on at the time. Like the stuff above like I explained , but I didnt have the capacity to explain it. Now as I grow older I can realize some of the stuff I might have gone through and what I might have felt.

but yea I felt kind of blind and numb to most things growing up as well

Here's a link to the Wikipedia page on Asperger's. The language is a bit technical, but the paragraph on social interaction sounds exactly like what you described. The basic definition of AS is a difficulty or inability to read others's emotions and social cues. In other words, we simply do not know how to relate to others.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome

BTW, this is the page that introduced me to WP! :D

I always thought I knew what other people were thinking, in fact I thought I was so much better at it than anybody else, cos in my eyes they were getting it wrong Hmmm. Now I know that I do not read people at all well and this has caused all kind of trouble throughout my life. So Yeah what your talking about sounds familiar

 The same here. I made a lot of mistakes - those that latter showed to be serious ones - because I thought I knew what people want/think. Only after I realize that I had some autistic traits (I didn't knew about AS until some months ago) I got that some guesses that I assumed could be very unaccurated.

Understanding about AS is helping a lot for me improve my social interaction. BTW I've never realized that I have poor eye contact until I watch myself very recently.
