Hello,

I am new here, so I will be brief. I was wondering if anyone, diagnosed or otherwise, finds themselves mimicking other peoples personalities. For example, If someone is gregarious, I tend to be gregarious...if someone is serious I will be serious. I seem to not have my own personality sometimes! I am generally very stoic and quiet. But if my daughter is around, for example, I will put on a "show" sometimes of being silly and fun. But I really want to be alone in a room with my computer! Anyway, I was just wondering about this.

Thanks.

A lot of people on the spectrum do.
In fact, it's a common trait of those with the INTP personality type (generally the quiet unobtrusive nerdlings) to mirror and replicate behavior.

yeah, mirroring is definitely a word, and it's a good skill to have. I think it's when AS people can't mirror NT's that social problems can arise.
