I was entrusted for one year with the custody of a little female dog. I am ASD . Took to love this creature and she loved me too. After one year she was taken away from me, on matters of property. Property is protected by law, affections substantially not if they are not irrelevant appendages of property. My suffering and loneliness have become more acute than ever. My life which at this point is nearly void of any content will descend seversl steps. I am also anguished for the suffering of the little dog. I think this is a case where the "law" in horribly gross and inadequate. This is our world. s**t.

I'm sorry to hear that Paolo.

It's terrible and its wrong, an animal is more than mere property; they have an individual personality and feelings too.

Does the dog's owner not also have affection for it?

Anyway, legislation for this kind of thing would be a nightmare. Any law that would award you another person's dog based on affection could award me anything I could ever want, based on my actual of falsified affection for it (assuming a pet is treated the same as any other property).

I would use that law to take people's computers. I obviously have more affection for them than the people who only use them to send annoying emails to all their relatives.

paolo was essentially the dog's owner, for all intents and purposes. He took care of the dog in every way, socially, medically and emotionally. The owner abdicated this responsibility for a year, and now, suddenly wants to take the dog back. Of course he cares more for the dog than the owner did. There may be Italian law precedent for this, covering ownership via abandonment.

Okay, that wasn't really explained in this thread. I guess it makes sense, then. If you take care of an animal (or anything else) that's been abandoned, it's pretty much yours.
