Yeah, that is pretty much what Impulse is. Order or Pre-order games, download updates, and the works.

Stardock is an independent company and is actually very good when it comes to any kind of DRM's on their games, you do have to use impulse to update sins but if you have a desktop shortcut you don't have to go through impulse to play it, so it's a lot better than steam in that respect :)

That being said it takes a long time to look for updates, o well guess that's just nit picking

Stardock is a big proponent of using content updates that are actually worth a damn as a form of DRM. They don't put anything like Securom on their products (and in fact the copy-protection company Starforce actually got itself into deep s**t by publicly linking to a torrent of a Stardock game), they only require that you use the cd key in order to register to download free updates. The key is one-time use to create an account and unlock updates for he game you bought, so it's hard to share keys. As for torrents, if they find a torrent of their game, they merely contact the tracker or trackers that are hosting it and ask them to remove it. Seriously, I have a very hard time finding working torrents of Stardock products...

That's the way the entire industry should be run,but people are too greedy and/or lazy to implement that...
