I have issues eating certain types of foods, for example, I can't swallow raw carrots because of how they feel in my mouth, even though I love the taste of them. Are issues like this common in AS people? Does anyone else have similar problems?

Can't do citrus; the pulp is so texturally revolting that I will be ill. Same with raw banana.

Padium,
I've noticed some of your posts today and am wondering why you just don't bunch all of your questions into one long post to make it easier for people to answer. It seems like you are wondering whether or not you are somewhere on the autistic spectrum but it appears as if you would prefer to be seen as somebody with Asperger's rather than being autistic by definition.
As to the food thing yes I do not like carrots unless they are cooked and served with butter as many 'regular' people do as well.

I should probably mention there are some foods that disturb me so much that I am drawn to eat them for the fascination of the disturbing and awkward feeling and taste, and I literally like them because I don't like them.

I am diagnosed AS, and I have only recently come to terms with the diagnosis, and am finally able to accept it enough to research it now. The questions, I am just asking them as they come to me. I was diagnosed with AS about 6 years ago when I was in gr 7 I think. The history of that diagnosis was not a fun one, as some of the treatment I got was for a different thing they thought I had but didn't, and I don't remember what that was, but it felt like torture. Even though I have agreed with the diagnosis for the past 3 years, I am only now accepting it.

I don't like anything hot, like chilli. I even had to give up sweet chilli sauce.
I don't like onions, zucchinis, and I can't eat oranges. Oranges make me really ill. I think it's a side effect to some pills I used to take, because before oranges made me ill I took vitamin C tablets to get over a cold.
I'm sure there's more. I hate rye bread.
When I was younger I couldn't stand salt n vinegar chips. I don't really like them now but I can tolerate them. I also hated prunes and apricots. Apricots are alright now.
I dislike eating lamb or beef because I can't chew very well, but I'll leave that for another thread.

Lays chips, betcha can't eat just one. If they're salt and vinegar, all I can handle before wanting to stop eat them is one.

I'm severely allergic to all nut products, as in I go unconscious if I eat them. I've heard that issues like that aren't uncommon for people on the autism spectrum.

I'm hypersensitive to all 5 senses. I don't put salt on anything because sodium is in most foods and you only need 2,300mg of salt a day. I don't like the feeling of being bloated.

My taste isnt super sensitive per say, but I did aquire my family's cooking abilities when it comes to taste and cooking. A lot of people on my dad's side, specicaly all the males, have absolutly amazing cooking skills, a few of them, including me, have the ability to recreate something they eat at a later time, just by being able to tell what's in it by taste (although I'm not as good at it as my dad yet, though I can reproduce any smoothie I taste). I am oversensative to sound. I hate that sensitivity.... I have been to a couple concerts, although I enjoy the band, I struggle through them because of the noise level, and often feel sick by the end... is it worth it, for Great Big Sea, hell yeahs.

EDIT: I am so sensitive to touch, that I can generally feel something if it is close enough to my body without touching it, and when something comes into that noticable proximity, I hate that sensation. Sensitivities to sight: I can't stand bright light, and although not related to a sensitivity, I can't stand to look at certain things cuz they disturb me/make me wish they were not in my sight, although there aren't too many of those things, and I assume thats more of an aethstetics thing.

I can't have anything wet. That is to say there has to be a dryness to the wetness.

For example, I can't tolerate sauces, or anything like baked beans. Which is annoying since there have been several stews and currys my mums done and while I like the tastes I can't handle the texture. Soups also out so is Gravy.

I can handle dry things like cereals that don't have much milk on (when it comes to weetabix I have to let the milk soak in), Peanut butter and marmite, and drinks like tea and coke and orange juice. I can a handle certain fruit as long at it quite crisp, apples, pears, etc. I can tolerate bananas, because I really like the taste and because it's cold I can just dig in.

Vegetable have to be raw, or roasted, I can only handle Garlic cooked if I eat it with something Dry like chicken.

Potatoes I caan eat but they can't be well done they have to be just cooked, not raw and hard, but still quite hard.

Eggs have to be really well done. Hard boiled, or if scrambled or omlette I have to have them with potatoes.

I've only just begun to tolerate Ice cream sauce and cream. I can't have butter or margerine too soft, but I can have Garlic Butter if it's been put on toast and well toasted.

I can just about tolerate fish, but I while I love the taste it feels still quite unpleasant.

Mmmm I love salt and vinegar. I love anything that is extremely salty or vinegary or acidic. I eat katsup straight, drink the juice from pickle & caper jars, drink straight lemon juice, eat feta cheese straight, sauerkraut straight .. ect

Mmm my mouth is watering now XD

The only time I ever like salt is when I'm craving salty foods, and that only ever happens because I eat so little of cuz I hate it. If I can't taste the salt at all even slightly, then it is generally ok on that end.
