I hear that no two Go games are ever the same.

So it says in the film 'Pi'.

I love Go, when I actually get to play it.

I've played it but couldn't get into it. The board/pieces are so drab and boring looking that it's hard for me to imagine different strategies.

I've played go but I'm not good at it. I much prefer chess or stratego.

I have to disagree. I find the black white contrasts and the patterns very aesthetically appealing.

It's not that I don't find it aesthetically appealing, it's just that I don't find it very imaginative. When I placing my stones, that's all I see, black and white stones, I don't see "dragons" or what have you that you try to form. Since I can't picture those kinds of things, it's very hard for me to play. Now, a game like Axis & Allies, where you have a world map as the board, different figures representing the different types of pieces, etc, it's very easy for me to formulate strategies.

I have the wooden board and real stones! I like the game, but I only know the basic rules. I don't think I ever played a game to the point when you are unable to place any more stones.

I know the rules, but never had anyone to play against and so have never learned how to actually play the game (I know absolutely none of the strategy) and I would feel like a complete ass going online and playing against people who actually play Go.

Hmmm...different thinking styles I guess. I do better with abstract stuff.
