The graphics on the N64 sucked, even in its time. The graphics on the PC was much better. The N64 used a lot of sprites with bi-linear filtering, the PC would used models instead. In all fairness, the PSX had better graphics than the N64 as they had the right idea of using models. Models being the more commonly used thing in games. It may have used software, but models are still being used, can't get any better than that. Could never stand the controller of the N64, never felt right, after so many hours my hands would hurt or get blisters so I HAD to stop playing. The more common games to play in the day were of course Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64. I never liked the idea of a FPS on a console
the PC cant really be compared to console,as it can be upgraded to suit better games as time goes on and console makers are known to underclock them, with full power [if that] only used near the end of its life.
am got a lot of blisters from the control pad as well, especially as the sticks were so rough and plasticy [at least the dual shock/dual shock II sticks were softer and better to use when warm/sweaty] but thought goldeneye played great on the N64,it seemed to work perfectly with the controls, and is usually always in game journo 'best games ever' lists.the music was great to,have got goldeneye to thank for discovering Orbitals 'the box' [the snowy level music].
have never played mario64,cant be bothered with it,not a mario liker.
but graphics would never stop from playing it or another older game again, still like playing games such as asteroid, and the great but rare ps one game vib ribbon which uses the same sort of graphics-black background with white lines and shapes.
