THPS 2 and 3 were awesome, then it went somewhat downhill. I personally think the first underground was a good one, but I know many hated the new style.

For the newer games, I'd prefer "Skate!".

I agree with dadum... 2 and 3 were awesome (especially when you can skate with Darth Maul... that was epic...)

I've got the first two on Dreamcast.

I like them, but I kind of suck at them :x Especially the ones where you have to beat a certain high score...I like the ones where you have to collect letters or whatever, though.

Wish they had longer soundtracks though...I love Primus, but I can only hear Jerry Was a Race Car Driver so many times before I have to mute the music and pop in a CD.

I played 3 and 4 religiously and I've been through most of the first Underground.

Other unlockable characters I enjoyed: Eddie from Iron Maiden, Jango Fett....and Mike Vallely.

My favorite skater to play as(and watch IRL) is Rodney Mullen. In game, he's got a big Manual skill bonus which gives you a bit of a head start with combos.

I really loved/hated Bam Margera's quest with the shopping cart in Alcatraz. It's a real thumb-killer.

I also like Aggressive Inline from Akklaim. It's a similar playstyle, although it's a bit more toon-ish. It also has more comedy moments than THPS and a pretty cool soundtrack.

I loved THPS2 on the Dreamcast, best of the series IMO. After that they gradually went downhill. I enjoyed Project 8, but for some reason, could never pull off the advanced moves and got stuck.

I never did like the tony hawk games. Skate on the other hand... I really enjoy that one. The controls kinda remind me of actual skating and the moves you can pull off are a little more realistic.

Used to love them. I never played any pre-Pro Skater 4, but I was hooked on the ones I did play. Pro Skater 4 I will always remember for changing my life as far as music goes. I first heard AC/DC in that game.

The Underground games were cool. Part 1 was much better than the second, it had a great story.
American Wasteland turned out to be my favorite, and even better story, and just an overall fun time. Liked the certain elements of the quests and missions that went with the plots.

After that I just stopped playing them. Lost interest when Project 8 came out, it was more like the Pro Skater games (or so I heard), and I liked the incorporation of a story into the games.
