How does Damon Baird get put into a prision capsule in Gears of War 2?

i've been trough the game but don't remember the details about that, i do remember we go and rescue him, even existing an achievement called "freebaird"

I think his Digger Pod thing landed right in the locast stronghold. Remember you find his digger with his dead mate in before finding him, not too far from the torture barges.

How come most of the really cool characters die(A. Carmine, B. Carmine), ande the cool, but not as cool as the coolest ones(Baird), don't.

Well his pod mate was apparently ground, my guess might be that they got under attack, his team mate was killed, and Baird must have been captured and put into the cell, but I don't know if he would surended as they havent't done accepted that before. One could assume that maybe he as not able to defend himself and was possibly just thrown in there as he had no weapons, yet he didn't have any wounds. The B Carmine was cool, I kind of understood his nickname of rook being refered to as being a rookie also I often found him in battles just running straight into the battle simular to the chess piece rook, kind of a pitty he had to die. Oh well apparently another two still to get killed, I liked it when they had that little snippet about how the helmets help filter, but they also leave you open to sniper fire. Back to topic, I found it strange how did the people get their torture along the way, and was the point of it all?

Yeah, well, somehow, I actually wondered how that when they went onto the Torture Barge, and Tai was saved, I was wondering how they managed to inflict that much damage on Tai, one, they wouldn't have had enough time, and secondly, I can't exactly see any room for torturing on the barge.

Come to think of it Baird didn't have a weapon

He went down in the grindlift, but he must have landed in the locust prisoner area, as thats where you find his grindlift. His jumpmate was killed, probably by an accident with the grindlift, as if he survived, the locust probably would have captured him like Baird. Baird was then captured, and luckily, delta arrived before torture began. At least thats what i think.
