WP chat has become a trollmagnet

I used to come to wp to chat, but nowerdays, there is user harrasment, false accusations, and nothing is ever done about it!

thx.. and hopefully this problem can be resolved.

I thought this was resolved a long time ago and everybody agreed that the chat area was a cesspool.

Yeah, its become that way, i really used to like that room....
at least in my room #autismUnited i dont tollerate trolls, user harassment etc.

Agreed. It is filled with snotty, stuck-up, callous people and the ops are just fine with that.

NO such thing as a false accusation. Its either an accusation, a statement of truth, or a lie. An accusation, when PROVEN false, becomes slander or libel.

Meh. I'm not really an IRC type of person. Too hectic and jumbled for my tastes. The regular forum is more structured, more organized, and moves at a pace that allows me to prepare a response appropriately.

You guys shouldn't get all upset about these people flaming you, there just people behind a computer or to put it in a better way just words on a computer screen, it's more hurtful when said to your face.

I get hate comments on my YouTube all the time, one of them told me to kill myself and that no one cared about me.

For the umpteenth time. #wpchat has nothing to do with the wrongplanet.net. Please find somewhere else to complain about it or ask for support.

Well, the channel is actually #wrongplanet on FreeNode, and it was started as a real-time version of the forum by Alex Plank, I should know, having been active there for years until recently, and being one of the primary channel operators for several years, if not the primary. I even hand wrote the bot (Bot_0) to help with the tasks.

As to if it is safe, I'm going to have to say "NO!"

Before I left, several of the other channel ops made agreements with multiple suspected pedophiles (at best) and other scum to allow them back in, even let one in "as long as Bateau didn't find out, you didn't let him know, and you used a new nickname" (paraphrase from a log he pasted me when I came in as a new user under another name and started talking with him as he was triggering all my mental red-flags)

So, yes, I left because I could not in good conscious continue to associate with the rest of the management of the channel and was being constantly undermined by several others in my goal of protecting users.

summary: it's not safe, and I am not longer working to make it safe because, quite frankly, I can't, and I don't want people to think it is.

^^ My heart goes out to you, Bateau. I have been the lone mod on WP for a couple of weeks during a winter holiday break and realize how fragile the WP franchise actually is. It must have been distressing to have to completely abandon what you cared about and gave of yourself and your families time toward.

You probably have found that Aspie Affection is no longer available, too. WP is still functioning as a cohesively civil forum but only though the efforts of her membership and people like you.

even the IRCops are getting nasty, they have been spreading rumours that i have been trying to get people to kill themselves
