Aaaacckk!
I forgive people in the autistic community for anything they do to me, because they're my family. My mother says I shouldn't, because even if they're my family they should get what they deserve if they do something wrong. Yet when someone in my biological family does something wrong to me, my mother tells me off for badmouthing them to others because I'm supposed to honor the family and respect them and keep their secrets. What bothers me is 1) she judges people's worth on whether they're biologically related to you, 2) she contradicts herself, first saying that you have to give anyone what they deserve whether they're family or not but then saying I have to let them get away with s**t because they're family, and 3) she wants me to let them get away with hurting me because they're my biological relatives. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it. And for the record, my biological relatives are not my real family; you guys are. They're too bossy and they try to control you and they discriminated against me when I was a child because I was a child and had backward views on things, and they're opinionated about you and won't stick by your decisions... rather, they will tell you exactly what they think if they disagree with you and will try to force their views on you. They don't do it anymore, at least not with me, but they used to. One of my aunts once said, when I was 13 or 14, that she owned her children and that they were her property, and that spooked the s**t out of me.
^^ I must say I very much agree. I find great confusing pixies in the idea that similar genes imply that one must unconditionally act differently toward that individual. ^^ Oh dear, I believe that is certainly mean that your auntie stated that her children are her property. ^^ I believe no being belongs to another being. (Perhaps, for that matter nor does any item relatively, however this is perhaps unrelated here). ^^ I find my mother in particular contradicts herself. I may be incorrect and she is lovely. However, I notice that most of my family appear to be against individuals for certain acts, yet feel they are justified for completing acts that could be considered similar. ^^ Alas, I do worry that I perhaps do this also, and I am most possibly incorrect, and wish not to be horrible.

The lack of forgiveness and the idea that children are property certainly would scare the sh** out of me too. Control freaks, heh never understood them.
Edit: NEW AVATAR, yes that is my real face, with a dab of imagination.

Pretty much why I dont ever wanna have kids. It seems these days people only have kids so they can have someone to feel "superior" or "authorative" over. Even when they're all adults, parents these days seem to have that "respect your elders" excuse to maintain control.

BUT if no one raises children differently then we only allow such practices to continue. Hence using that as a reason to not want kids only lets them win. Children, as my child development teacher put it, are an investment that is hard and rough in the beginning but later on become worthwhile investments. Of course that doesn't take into account what ifs and freedom of choice of the new individual but still thats the usual concensus.

You are right about the whole respect your elders thing. In my family it is horrible. I am 30 and the older family members think that they have control over the younger ones because they are older. Plus having my asperger's, they would see me as my disability, rather than the smart intelligent, more normal than the elders are person that I am. They see the disability as a way to have even more control over my life, and even have manipulated me into thinking because of the disability I am not capable of doing anything, when in fact I can make better decisions for myself then they can for their own selves, never mind my needs.
