How many here get over stimulated by the use of things like Crayons or markers? When I do projects involving these items I get so over-stimulated I have to take a time out and go to a quite place preferably dark place and just chill out.
Am I just nuts or is there others who have this problem.

I love visual stimulation but I have a nephew (171 on AQ scale) who prefers his living space to be neutrally colored and minimalist in decor because too much visual stimulation overloads him. I seem to really need stuff to look at and I love to look at Wayne Thibaud's paintings because they are just so satisfying to me visually. My overload area is more sound related. Is it a tactile thing for you or more visual do you think?

I don't know if this is relevant but I love the colour blue and I wear blue a lot.

Btw, it kinda annoys me when it's spelt "colors", I know it's right in some countries, but I'm english and it's spelt "colours".

Thank you for posting this question. My son who has autism gets very overstimulated when using crayons, and it always ends up with him going berzerk and drawing all over the walls. Just reading your question now made me realize that he's doing this because he's overstimulated (he's 3). It doesn't happen to him with paints though.

As for me, I have some sensory stuff around getting my fingers dirty with paints and cray-pas, but regular crayons are ok with me as long as I can stay inside the lines.

Sometimes; depends on the colors. I'm not too fond of bright colors in large doses. Rooms that are entirely white tend to freak me out as a result. Hate pink, have a love/hate relationship with most neons (except yellow; I just hate neon yellow.).

I'm the opposite practically. I like a lot of bright colors and rainbow patterns. But I do not like neon orange, neon signs, bright lights, etc. Lighting bothers me more than color. I have never really liked light colors, but I will wear white occasionally. I always preferred dark ones (black, navy & brown). Guess it depends on the person in question. Markers bother me due to odor, not color intensity.

I love neon colors. But one thing I'm not too fond of is drab colors, like what was in style in the 1970s.

Don't really like crayons...so messy. I prefer markers...nice and neat!

I am a colored pencil fanatic lately. I've always loved the bright colors of markers and crayons.

Still, I keep my apartment minimally decorated so that I don't get overstimulated. I think I just draw with my pencils during times when I'm understimulated.

"colors" is more to the point. the u doesnt do anything.

as long as a writing system is official, then its correct, no matter what it looks like in the country of origin. all languages has their origin, and theyre all different in other places.

here in norway we have two writing systems that are widely in use, and i dunno, three others that are not in use, plus long traditions of writing certain poetry/songs in dialects. in other words, there isnt a single correct way to write ANYthing in norway :D
