Since I couldn't find a SC2 Thread...figured I would post one!

http://www.starcraft2.com/

In addition, I have already pre-ordered my copy of SC2 something close to 7 or so months in advance (Yes, I'm that crazy)

I am honestly looking forward to the entirely new level of strategy being put into play.

As a devoted Protoss lover, I am not all that eager about the first of the trilogy, the terran campaign. From what I have read, each campaign will be something like...24 or so missions long which means amazing character development and game-play.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the Protoss race though.

Even if they are still ripping off Warhammer 40k with everything >.>

Feel free to place your own thoughts!

Regards
GM

I've been looking forward to the release of Starcraft 2 for a while. I believe it will be released later on this year. The trilogy will mostly effect single player. For the purposes of multi player and single player skirmishes, all three races will be available from the first game. There will probably also be extra additions to each race in each of the two expansions.

*Nods* True, true.

Brood War introduced the Lurker, Devourer, Corsair, Dark Archon, Medic and Valkyrie frigate and that was with one expansion.

With two expansions...much more to add. Plus if you think how long each will take to create then the units introduced will be in direct response to the preceding games.

I myself can't wait for the cinematics to be honest. If the opening trailer was any indication...

I think Blizzard's cinematics are generally good and their decision to turn the game into a trilogy would allow them to add more of them than they would if they didn't. However, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Blizzard said that because the in-engine cutscenes are of such high quality, there may be fewer pre-rendered cinematics but they will be longer and more epic. Some of the fans of the multi player side of Starcraft are complaining about the decision to release the game as a trilogy but I personly like the idea. This is because I mainly play these games for single player content and story and this will also give the player some over the story even though the endings to each games are fixed.

I concur.

The extended cut-scenes also mean more Raynor!

I seriously cried when Tassadar died! >.< He was such an awesome character.

You'll actually be playing the role of Raynor in the first game. I also liked Tassadar's character, I wonder if there will be still reference to him in Starcraft 2 (there's something in the lore about the memories of dead protoss being kept alive in that psionic link that protoss have with each other, also called the khala). Blizzard did say something about a previously character from Starcraft being brought back in Starcraft 2. However, I think this is more likely to be Alexei Stukov than Tassadar. If you didn't know there is an extra secret mission in the N64 version of Starcraft+Broodwar that explains that Stukov was infested by the zerg cerebrate Kaloth following his apparent death in broodwar. In the secret mission Raynor along with a protoss dragoon called Taldaren had to find Stukov in order to reverse his zerg infestation using a special serum created by protoss scientists under Artanis's leadership.

Yeah...never did play the N64 version. Way too annoying to control.

I was pissed about Fenix. He was one of my most beloved characters.

"I can still...how do you Terrans say...throw down with the best of them."

Epic genius!

Yes, that's an excellent line. :) I also thought that Zeratul was great character. Even when Starcraft 2 does come out, I still will won't be able to wait for the second expansion when you actually play the the role Zeratul. Although I've also heard that in the first game, there will be a protoss mini campaign within the main one where you'll play his role.

Indeed.

I myself love the new artwork for a lot of the Zerg and Terran. Much better looking.

Hydralisk and Zealot especially. They look very nice.

I find myself wondering what the Dark Templar's will look like. I like the one with the scythe more than the zealot-type blades.

I do have Kerrigan dies though. Can't forgive her for Fenix, or the Zerg for Tassadar. Two of the greatest Protoss IMO.

Hyrbid's should also make a re-appearance I hope.

I think i will only buy the first of the three because it will probably be sold for 80$ or more at EB. I just hope they don't add more units into the last two games so you must buy all three to be competitive online. :?

I don't think it'll work like that.

I believe there will be levels.

Say...one level for those only with the first, another for 2/3 and a last for people that have 3/3.

They did the same for WarCraft and StarCraft original I think.

And they'll probably be a year apart so I'm gonna buy 'em all :D So wanna get back into the protoss. Rip off of the Eldar they may be...I still love 'em. Now I just need a Tassadar plushie >.>

I think I'll get all three when they come out. I don't think the price factor is that much of an issue because they'll be released at different times. Also, if new units are added in the two expansions, then that won't be any different from any expansion that adds new content.
