Yes, right here in this thread! If you've always wanted to educate people about whatever it is you're obsessed with, but were waiting for someone to ask, here's your chance - I'm asking. :) Tell us something interesting about it.

You can make it as brief or detailed as you wish, but please limit yourself to one initial post. (So the practical character limit is whatever the WP board software allows for a single post.) If someone replies to you then, of course, feel free to reply back. If you currently have multiple special interests please put them all in one post. However, if you later develop a new special interest then feel free to make a new post about that (unless this happens to you daily ;)).

My interest in the reading and re-reading the Wheel of Time series is waning. :( I don't have any obsessive interests at present.

Anyway, I really like threads about special interests. I'm not entirely sure why but I guess I do find what others with the same disorder as me are interested in interesting.

I have been into writing and I am too into my story and obsessed with my own character I made up. I like to put my personal thoughts in it, fantasies, my own feelings. I have posted them online too.

I write science fiction. It's part therapy for me because some issues I deal with end up in the plot or sub-plot. It usually turns into a piece of self-advocacy too.
I get obsessed with my main characters too. Especially since I'm obsessed with the person that influenced me creating that character in real life too.

I also like physics, astronomy, photography, obviously all types of science fiction, and comic books. And I'm playing Skylanders Swap Force at the moment so I'm rather fond of that too. And I love love the music that I listen to. I love to see it live with a friend, have a few beers to ease my nerves and by chance get to meet that band. Although, it's usually stubborn determination and drunkenness that makes me go up to a band member.

I have a lot of them. My major interests are RC cars\airplanes\helicopters, photography and astronomy\astrophotography.

I'm saving up for a new telescope. I should have the $1,600 for it about a year from now. One of the motors in my current telescope went dead, so I can't use it :( It's a Celestron Nexstar 5i, a 5" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope on a single fork Go-To tracking mount.

The telescope I'm saving for is a Celestron Advanced VX 8" SCT. It has the same optical design as my current scope, but it's 3" larger in diameter. Which means I'll be able to see and photograph much dimmer objects with better resolution. It also has a different type of mount. It's a GEM (German equatorial mount). This mount allows for greater flexibility in what equipment I can attach to the telescope. It's tracking precision is much more precise than my current scopes Altitude\Azimuth mount.

For astrophotography, I use my Nikon D3100 DSLR camera either attached to the telescope (looking through the telescope) or piggybacked on the top of the telescope and use the regular camera lens for wide field pictures.

There is no self. The me I think of as me isn´t really me. The you you think of as you isn´t really you. What is is the same existence in all. There is no outside or inside. Everything is inside. There is no distinction between what is observed and who is observing, the action of observing is automatic and doesn´t require will. The same goes for every kind of action, including no action. I see what I am, I am what I see and there is no existence beyond me. There is no high or low, divine or mundane. All is the same. All value is artificial. This signifies nothing.
THE END

I'm currently writing a series of 5 novels, and have been for a couple of years. I got half way through book 3, but then went back and decided to rewrite book 1, which I'm finding, for some reason, unbelievably difficult to do. Been at it for four months and still not past chapter 2. Still, I'll get there eventually.

I'm not interested in writing, and when I'm done with the fifth book I will never write another word. I just have an obsession with this one story I've come up with.

Learning new grammar when I learn a new language excites me. Other people cringe at the thought of learning and assimilating grammar; they try to think of new ways to learn language without learning grammar mechanically. For me, though, grammar represents liberation - each new rule opens up infinite possibilities of expression. I can learn to read, write and speak a language quickly, but I'll never be really good at languages because understanding spoken language is my downfall, which includes English. I find it hard to process oral language.

I'm particularly interested in Architecture at the moment , specifically Skyscrapers , I just love the history , and all the facts about them.

Then there's Astronomy too , I'm getting my first Telescope 140MM this Christmas and concidently I'll be able to see Comet Ison at it's closest approach just ONE day later :D

That's pretty much it.

Whales and crows, huh? I quite like jackdaws. Over here we have a lot of them. Carrion crows as well, but not in as great numbers as in the city I used to live in. And sometimes you can spot magpies and Eurasian jays. They're all very exciting birds to observe, super-intelligent and often up to some mischief. What about the corvids in your area?
