Coach bribes 8 year old to hit autistic child with ball

UNIONTOWN -- An 8-year-old boy who told authorities he was bribed by his coach to throw a baseball at an autistic teammate testified yesterday that after he hit the teammate in the groin, the coach ordered him "to go out there and hit him harder."

It sounds like this coach is just a lousy human. According to another AP article, he's been in trouble before. Once he got upset with a umpire and offered $25 to any player who could "accidently" hit that ump.
His lawyer is saying its all an easily explained misunderstanding! The coach was just joking!

I'm sorry, but if that had been my autistic child, this wouldn't have even made it to the courts since I would've called on a few very well-built cousins to educate that coach on how painful it is to have head and groin injuries. |

Little league baseball, and kids' sports in general, should not be nearly as violent. These kinds of sports should only be games for fun, healthy exercise and places where discipline, teamwork and leadership is taught, not violence. |
