I am a purist, Dennis Richie has done more for computer science than most of the rest put together.
Steve jobs made a cake out of the knowledge of others and iced it with his crappy consumerism |

For a text editor, I use (g)vim. For the OS I use Linux as thats whats on my laptop or Free/OpenBSD at home. As most of what I do is simple C or perl/tk the OS does not matter too much. |

That they can look you in the eye and lie to your face, knowing full well that they know that you know they are lying and carrying on regardless.
It like walking into a wall repeatedly on the assumption that their belief will turn the wall into a door |

I am competitive in terms of correctness. I dont give a damn about being the best, the fastest or the most productive but I will always be the most correct in terms of good practice and efficiency at work. I am not sure if this is competitive or pedantic. |

There is a bit of irony that for someone who is saying that the internet is based on encryption ( which it isnt) that they should download encryption software from an unknown entity, and run the compiled bin files on what is most likely a binary linux distro in the name of 'security' |

I use {Open,Free}BSD. It is Unix in everything but legal naming. But until FreeBSD's linux layer can run certain CAD bin packages then I have to keep a computer for Gentoo :/ |

I have a IBM M, good keyboard but noisy, plus due to the key height I found it difficult swapping to another keyboard after typing a lot on it.
My favorite keyboard was the SGI granite, shame I spilt a can of beer on it ! |

C will never be deprecated, at least without an alternative to replace it. There is nothing wrong with its memory management, you just have to understand how the hardware works to use it properly. You are not likely to use C for a user/gui application unless you want finger exercise just as much as ... |

I have used a BSD for years, but have to use Linux for some apps that I cant use on BSD eg for CAD.
The best hardware is non x86, I have found Sun and SGI to make the best hardware. |
