I have a similar issue, albeit i am the one who tends to lie about things, and the one with Aspergers. For me it is a learned behavior, growing up i was indirectly taught that you should lie to stay out of trouble (my mum in particular role modeled this). I say indirectly as it was from my observin...

has anyone heard of this before?

I don't know how much help i will be, but feel the need to try. Your comments sound all to familiar to me, although i found my first girlfriend at 21, i was already having the same thoughts you have shared. My solution was to try internet dating, it let me process what was being said first as the in...

At the markets this morning I came across a stall selling Magnesium Chloride as a transdermal spray. On a list of 101 uses for their product, number 11 was Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I was very interested in how Magnesium Chloride treated Autism so I asked the stallholder for more information. She...

Looking at the responses you have so far the right advice seems to depend on the country/medical system you are working with. I am in Australia and took the approach of finding the right path in our medical system and going to my GP and saying 'I would like to get a mental health plan and a referral...

Has anyone heard of or tried the Integrated Listening System (http://integratedlistening.com/)? If so, did it work?

I am being told it can help calm my mind and reduce my shutdown response, which is a rather nice thought.

What you describe could very easily be said about me as well, I also went through the dilemma of not being sure 'is this social anxiety or aspergers'. Early in my assessment process i discussed this with my psychologist who explained the difference (only talking about the social aspect of aspergers ...

It has been a popular line of thinking among Aspies that it's not worthwhile changing anything in your personality because Asperger Syndrom is a significant part of what you are. I would like to know what you mean by that. Is it your beliefs? Your behavior and habits? Your childhood memories? If it...

I told my employer just today. I've started meeting with a therapist, and I need a regular day off in order to see the therapist at the same time every week. I'm actually going more for my panic attacks than ASD, but it was all on the same diagnosis sheet so I shared the ASD as well. My boss seemed...

Thank you for responding, you make a good point there that i hadn't thought of before. One of the reasons i did finally go for a diagnosis was some of the feedback i got on my dealing with clients, there is an emphasis in the company on the business networking side of things, which i struggle with. ...
