I once had a good friendship with a person that I know has Autism, and I have a good friendship with a person I think has Autism. |

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It has practical advice illustrated with examples, and it is very readable. |

In short, I've never had a girlfriend because of insecurity, fear of rejection, low self esteem, feeling unworthy of love, limited social skills, anxiety in social situations, lack of interest in other people, lack of things to say, Inability to be playful, Inability fake confidence well, moodiness,... |

I was asked once. I think I could pinpoint the reason I was asked. Wasn't a good experience for me. |

I'm a fan of Spencer Reid, from Criminal Minds. I guess there's no way to be sure he's autistic, but I read somewhere that the actor who plays Reid believes Reid has Asperger's and/or traces of schizophrenia. |

I looked at my phone and I didn't believe the date it was telling me. I came to trust it, but my initial reaction was that the phone was wrong. That morning felt like Catcher in the Rye. I remember almost failing a quiz and handing it in late. When I handed it in I stood up in the middle of lecture,... |

I try never to look at life too broadly while depressed. If I do, it makes me feel worse. I'll tell you what helps for me. You have to keep an eye on where you're going, but I find I'm most content working on small attainable goals. Just take it a day at a time. Try cleaning your room perhaps, not j... |

When I was a few years younger, I frequently wanted to think of the world as a movie. It would make everything so much more meaningful, including my lonesome self. It would mean if I did go walking on a warm summer night I might actually find what the night promised. I couldn't deal with that so muc... |

If you're more specific, we may be able to help you sort through some of your issues. As for the self punching, you know it's a bad coping mechanism. You should choose not to punch yourself. I recommend a mattress or a couch or a pillow as suitable punching targets. It's cliche, but an unsent angry ... |

First, I feel the saying “people are attracted to confidence” is a sugar-coated way of saying “people have difficulty accepting folks with social difficulties.” Very well And as far as the fact that people are "typically put off" by a lack of self-confidence, I don’t feel our culture is justified i... |

Why do you feel like you need to move out right now? Is there something forcing you out, or is it just guilt? I don't know your situation, but when parents bring a child into the world, they obligate themselves to look after that child. If you feel guilty for "leeching", then find a way to earn your... |

I've just always believed that a positive attitude and a little perspective are helpful. We sometimes celebrate autism in order to have a positive attitude, and perhaps a bit more self esteem, even if we still resent some of the draw backs. |
