I can go for several days being 'normal' (we'll debate the meaning when I am more awake ). The trouble is I am not 'normal' I am just acting and so don't notice the slow build up of sensory input and stress building up. Then I have an 'autistic' day and wonder why I can't just hold it together ...

Hello I have a past I am not proud of. I used to destroy everything, hurt people and myself. At 26, I am nearly free of these problems. One big improvement was moving into my own flat with support workers coming in. My Mum refused to call the police because she knew that it would send me down the cr...

Hello. I've been off here for a whole year! Wow! A lot happened over that year. I got evicted and ended up in temporary accommodation... Yeah was a sucky year. For anyone who doesn't know me, I am Lucy and I am 26 years old. I have HFA, Tourettes, OCD and ADHD, skate in a roller derby team and love ...

Forum: Random Discussion   Topic: Why I wouldn't want to live in England

I don't want to live in England any more because I want a decent sized apartment! What the authorities describe as 'liveable' is ridiculous! I recently viewed a 'flat' which consisted of one rectangular room with a tiny kitchenette (no freezer!) and a square bathroom. I am really small, but I could ...

I have a constant radio station broadcasting in my head! It's often brilliant and perfectly suited to my taste, but thanks to my obsessive thoughts, occasionally something awful gets in there! A few bangs to the left temporal lobe seems to fix it! I can listen to the entire original cast recor...

I have always struggled with this, especially as I passed through puberty and into adulthood. I am quite good these days at 'ignoring' the injustice or rudeness which goes on around me, except I am only good at hiding my actual feelings of anger on the surface. There has been an ongoing issue with a...

I don't particularly understand it from a personal point of view but interestingly I have learnt more about why certain words are 'taboo' since developing coprolalia (involuntary swearing). As it has already been said, certain words are affixed to emotions. The average person will have learnt that s...

I was told at the last UK conference that it doesn't have any obvious benefits. Specialists here are not prescribing the splints due to lack of evidence. Personally, I just hate having anything in my mouth so I wouldn't even try it if it was offered!

I have no idea, I've just been told that it does this. It would be interesting to know why.

This one is based on the musical so there is a lot of singing. That's why I like it personally! If you like the story without the singing there are a lot of older versions although I can't think where to get them!

I actually cheered when they blew up the Gherkin on Doctor who! As for the Shard, it looks like it could open up and shoot out a missile like in a sci-fi movie! Translation, I hate it. This is a problem all over the UK as I live in a Victorian town and they are trying to put up a horrible modern tow...

It is very normal to get better and worse on a regular basis. This is called 'waxing and waning'. I can go for days or weeks with few tics then suddenly have an explosion with no warning! Tourettes and OCD is to some extent linked. Like you, there is no one in my family with it, but there is one sev...

Okay this topic was probably covered two weeks ago on here, but as you may or may not know, us in the UK only got this film yesterday! I really enjoyed it as it didn't deviate too far from the musical version but at the same time was different enough to be enjoyable. Apart from Russell Crowe, who I ...

I go into a mad state of rage when I cannot pursue my special interest. Self injury is common when I am like this, in particular scratching wildly, banging my head against a wall (literally) and head slapping. Depression is the longer term side-effect.
