As a Kid I had compulsive swallowing.
These days it takes the form of
coughing and sniffing......though
most of my TS is covertly done.

Hi Lotus......nice to hear you. My experience with this kind of thing is that the intensity of emotion (longing/ loathing) soon passes. The fourms are a life-line so be careful not to cut YOURS. It might be useful to draw up some bottom lines with re not looking up his postsand trying to stick to th...

As I come out the closet post Dx I am reminded of all the loneliness that forced me into the closet in...

Hi SoSayWeAll I come from a Catholic background where I have had the privilege of meeting some of the most radical theologians and deeply wise contemplatives. However, I would say my true home is now found within the Quaker fraternity, simply because politically and theologically I have grown to be ...

the attraction of emotional unavailability soon wears off when ones self worth gets stronger. Soul mates are only really found when the intensity of 'push n pull' abates. In my own persnal experience only in stillness can my own soul and a significant other be really heard, respected, and enjoyed to...

One of the greatest of spiritual truths is all things will pass. I know this sounds vague but try to focus on the fact that your present levels of anxiety WILL change......the intensity of anxiety will pass and you will grow from this. I would also advise you to use this thread to vent and let out y...

Donna Williams might offer you some comfort. She is by far the most articulate voice of coming out of the autism/abuse world. She is a true kindred spirit. The autistic brain craves things to be 'all figured out'......true spirituality is sitting in the unknown and having faith. The Quakers might of...

through greiving I found meaning
and compasion. First for myself
and then others.

of difference is very beautiful
indeed

I have been going to Quaker meetings London for over two years and coming from a Catholic background it is a really beautiful breath of fresh air. I heard at an AA meeting tonight somebody describe their higher power as the space between two or more people where a link or connection is made. It's in...
