Hot hot baths...almost scalding. The heat from the sun through a window or in a car very relaxing. Book pages, especially thin ones like in a Bible I love the feel of them and the sound they make. |

Metal eating utensils, especially forks, feels like sticking my tongue to a battery. Moving with out control, i.e. being a passenger not the driver. Shoes, athletic, anything laced up to my ankles I cant get out of quickly makes me feel trapped. Televisions the background noise is excruciating at ti... |

God has nothing to do with it. People make their own decisions. God simply makes an attractive scape goat for people who cant or wont face their own selves. The only thing that undermines you is you. |

Dr Delong started treating the autistic children he felt met the qualifications to most likely be bipolar as opposed to typical autism with Prozac and something like 7 out of 10 nonverbal autistic children who met the criteria started talking after receiving the Prozac. They are trying to isolate a ... |

Perhaps you should evaluate what it is you are looking for in life. Are the things you are seaking REALLY what you want and would make you happy or things you think you are supposed to have or be able to do because you are conditioned to believe you should. Like a succesfull relationship...why is th... |

I always feel like i could doze off sooo easily in the day time if I had time but don't have time. As soon as night comes Im ready to go...wide open. Maybe it is because the world is less busy at night and the mind is less driven to want to escape from all the clamor and intrusion of noises and move... |

Here it is...it is quite concievable how this interfearance in language the mood swings (melt downs) and specialized interest would make early on set bipolar children appear autistic. The good news from a neurology standpoint if his findings are correct is that bipolar is something they have had tre... |

Something you may find interesting...do a search on Dr DeLong Duke Childrens Autism study. Dr Delong is researching the link between autistic children and history of bi-polar in the family. He thinks a sub set of children diagnosed as autistic may in fact have early on set bipolar. He reasons that t... |

Let me share one of my fondest memories as the mom of an autistic son. My 5 yr old was with out spontaneous speech other than echolalia a year and a half ago and he can't tolerate being in flourecent lights for long. He gets stimmy and seems to just fall apart and go nuts. His little sister had outp... |

It is like a mild for of disassociation. I get it alot. It is also a symtom of panic attacks for people with panic disorder the difference being if it causes you enough fear to set of anxiety. Its like you are disconnected from your own body just looking out through it's eyes and you have no way to ... |

My son goes for days with little sleep sometimes, he is only 5. Neurologist told me he isnt sleep deprived and that people on the spectrum often don't produce typical amounts of melotonin so he simply does not need as much sleep. Do you feel sleep deprived all day the next day or are you frustrated ... |

LOL I'm sooo sorry. I'm still shocked when they don't check my ID for cigarettes and I have teenagers too. Funny I don't feel like I'm a middle aged person now...gosh when I was little I thought 37 was ancient. Excuse me while I cry. |

Don't you love it when you say Hi and they immediately direct you to the old folks table? LOL Actually, unless you consider being in your 30's old, many of us aren't that old. Ha ha...guess I'm just not yet adjusted to the fact that people my age are now the "older" people. I'm in denial...please d... |

I think if someone informed me I wasn't normal, I'd be strongly tempted to congratulate them on their highly developed perception. When someone tells me I'm not normal, I answer "Are norms important to you?" with a look like they're a kid and I'm all understanding. They immediately start defending ... |

You know there are some crazy ideas. And let me run my mouth and get flamed but I see a great deal of people embracing the whole poor me thing and the deviant, dark abnormal thing and I wonder is it really them, is it truly their identity or did they buy in to what society told them they are...abnor... |
