Hi, I am an aspie/hoarder/compulsive collector. My house and my finances are both at crisis point (again!) Believe me, in my case it has nothing to do with any traumatic "trigger" event - it's to do with pursuing my special interests/obsessions with having "complete sets" of as many things as possib...

Trust me it doesn't work that way. One incident changes nothing in the long run unless maybe it's huge. Yes, I realise that. What I mean is, I feel I suddenly had a glimpse of the NT world, & it felt so warm & friendly! But it was only a glimpse, because I don't know how to prop that door o...

Hi Lucy, Your daughter sounds a lot like me too. I was very academically advanced for my age - I could read fluently before I went to school and was way ahead of the rest of my class in maths. I skippped the last year of primary school & went to high school a year early, despite the reservations...

It was my birthday the other day, and because I share the same birthday with my boss, he is usually the one to buy cakes for the people in the office, which is the custom where I work. This year I offered to do it because he is going through a rough time, so I bought some cakes & emailed everyon...

Yes & yes. I only ask people this question when I haven't seen/spoken to them for ages, or I know they've been ill or something, i.e. when I really want to know how they're doing. It really irritates me when people ask me how I am when I only talked to them the day before! I have even been known...

I'd say degenerated because emotionally & lifestyle-wise I'm a young 20-something, whereas all my peers are married with kids etc, so I don't really fit in anywhere.

Plus I'm stuck in totally the wrong job & can't seem to escape.

None of the pro life people here have answered my question - I wonder why? It is an uncomfortable one isn't it, but some people are sadly forced to make decisions like the one I mentioned above. Things aren't black and white there are shades of grey, so I ask again if your baby was going to be born...

Knowing what the other person expects me to say or do. To me I'm acting "normally", but to them, something is off. I don't know how to initiate conversations, I don't do the smalltalk thing - well occasionally I remember, but it just seems so ridiculous to ask someone how they are when I only saw th...

Anti. The baby is as much a human being before it is born as after. No woman should have the "right" to kill another person just for her own convenience. Sorry, but if you insist on making it "safe", all you are doing is removing the deterrent. If there was a 95% chance that having a abortion would ...

outlook's emails are usually sent to computer's harddrive. Ah - this might explain it - we use Groupwise, not Outlook. So maybe they got confused..... There is no way they could be on the hard drive though - if they were, how could they be accessed from multiple terminals? good luck and if still no...

How?

We hotdesk, so we can already log in at any terminal anywhere.

Why would this change?

Hi, I am at work and we are about to have an office move to another part of the same building, which is on the same network. We have been told to archive all our emails, but none of the NT sheep in the office thought to ask WHY we needed to do this. The emails are currently on a network drive, NOT t...

Yes, OK, it was a tangent - but originally a relevant tangent! Please understand that the real point being made here is that what an NT considers "special" in an Aspie (i.e. in the original post) is only what an Aspie would consider "normal". Hence my lack of understanding of why a "average" child w...

even though its well known children can't grasp the concept of subtraction until they are around 7 years old. Huh??? That's bizarre! I suppose they must be talking about NT kids, because it certainly wasn't true for me. For me reading & maths were both completely intuitive, just as the social s...

As far as he is concerned, all he is doing is the equivalent of "swatting a fly", i.e. something is irritating him so he has to lash out at it to stop it. It is as straightforward as that. This suggests that his problem is with impulse control - he feels the urge to hit out & so he does it. This...
