Thanks everyone! There are some really good viewpoints here. Primary care doctor agreed we should have a neuropsych that is called a clarification of diagnosis. I think his primary care doctor is sensible in asking him to identify two symptoms that bother him the most and work on treating those. His...

I know that it can’t cure him but yes the comorbid anxiety depression and intrusive thoughts make it worse as he ruminates over the condition itself. Insomnia is terrible and he internalizes everything. He has ADD as well. He was 18 years old when diagnosed and has become depressed. Hopefully with m...

Thank you to all of you for your responses. We appreciate the suggestions. He just wants to feel better. We will keep trying! The Gabapentin I wish I could say was working but made him spacey and very negative. Seroquel was tried and it was like someone put a stick of dynamite under him and lit the ...

Thank you so much for your response! He is very depressed and nothing seems to work. I will ask his doctor about this. He is 19. Can I ask you at what age were you diagnosed? He was not diagnosed as a child but at just 18. Should one seek a second opinion? He certainly has OCD and intrusive thoughts...

Thank you for all the advice/thoughts on this. We found a program that will allow him to finish his high school credits taking classes at the local community college. He seems excited to try this as it's giving him a second chance allowing him some independence as he is 18 and just recently diagnose...

Thank you so much for this helpful reply. In fact the neuropsych mentioned PTSD and the burnout seems to make sense. He is not detached from reality just needs the tools to be able to deal with things again? Ok I see sort of slowly but surely approach letting him decide what he is comfortable with? ...
