How could one know that autism was inherited from the Neanderthals when we know so little about autism in the first place? We know that autism is probably at least partly genetic, and we know that it's not just one gene that causes autism but a combination of different genes. But environmental facto...

I think the Neanderthal-autism link theory rests maninly on this article:

The Neanderthal theory

What do you guys think? I haven't read the whole article yet, but I've seen it being ridiculed a couple of times.

The fact that the Eurasian population have higher rates of autism... Where did he find this so-called "fact"? I've read that the distribution of ASDs is homogenous throughout the human race. ( I do wonder how they discovered that, of course) I kind've took his word (and my friend's) for it. Apparen...

My question was not whether we are part Neanderthal, as I think it has been quite well established that Eurasians ARE, but whether we inherited autism from the Neanderthals, which I thought is a bit of a stretch. The grieviances in regards to racism in the article was not that Eurasians have Neander...

I have an friend who has asperger's who seems to be convinced that he is a throwback to the Neanderthals. This is the site he gave me the link to: Neanderthal Project To me, the article came off as slightly racist, implying that we "hybrids" are genetically superior to pure homo sapiens living in su...

I agree that there is no objective way to determine severity, and success would probably be a better way of determining functionality rather than severity, which are not necessarily the same thing. I've heard aspies say there are auties who are higher functioning than they are. As somebody pointed o...

There was a thread a while back trying to discern the differences between mild, moderate and severe Asperger's by Another_Alien. Here was his definition on mild Asperger's: Mild/Moderate/Severe Aspergers, as I see it: Mild You have some quirks/eccentricities, but you've basically got your **** toget...

However, that's not to say I don't want a relationship. But I can't give what most self-respecting women are looking for in a partner and they know that. I'm not cut out for the "modern woman" just how I'm not cut out for the modern job market not matter how much I try and fit in. If you don't have ...

From what I've seen, there appears to be two main perspectives on these riots. The first viewpoint I've seen people take is that they seem to sympathise with the rioters, and although they deny supporting them they seem to suggest that the perpetrators had no choice but to resort to rioting under th...

I am a nervous wreck, but my way of dealing with adversity and my issues has changed. Rather than trying to do everything that was expected of me out of fear of the consequences, when I'm overwhelmed I simply don't care anymore. I have become very apathetic, even more apathetic than when I was young...

Well right now I just finished the last semester of university. Although I am a different person to who I was when I first started, things don't feel to be getting much easier, or better, for that matter. I didn't change as much as I hoped I would, and I found I have much more significant difficulti...

My aspie friend said things start to get easier for aspies around the age of 25. Have things gotten easier for you for those of you in your mid-twenties/early thirties? Or is there no light at the end of the tunnel? I've just entered my mid-twenties and although I've learnt several important lessons...

I only speak for myself when I say this, but being 24 years old and still being a virgin, never been in a relationship, having no real friends, having no social life, having dwindling career prospects and an uncertain future, unable to get a good job because no employer wants to hire you, having no ...

Well, as I said before, the only way I'm going to learn is through trial and error. Maybe it's not a question of "asking the most girls out possible" but making the first move with all potential dates. Yes, I know that my chances of success are higher if I already know the girl than with strangers, ...
