Maybe Al Anon is the way to go. It's for family members of alcoholics and has the same basic structure as AA. I agree I think you may be headed for trouble. I am an alcoholic but have been sober for 10 years. The last few years before I went into treatment were pure hell. Thanks. Much love. :pr: :pl:

It's nice to know that I'm gross. It's nice to know that I'm sinful. It's nice to know that I'm undemocratic. It's nice to know that God hates me. It's nice to know that I don't care about the future of the human race. I might as well kill myself. In fact, that's what I'm going to do right now. This...

Hello, it's me, back with a new problem. I'm afraid of becoming an alcoholic. My father drinks a great deal and drives drunk with me in the car. He went all the way through AA once, but he regressed when he split with my mom three years ago. He is a true alcoholic who drinks steadily and heavily whe...

I think that the idea of ranking the Gospels is interesting. Once, after years of avoiding the Bible, began reading Luke for literary reasons and swooned with Christian sentiments. I started going to an Episcopal church and considered reverting to my childhood Catholicism. I was God-crazy for about ...

That we all have Just Autism, when in fact many, er, most of us rip up the DMS-V with our comorbid diagnoses. Think of how many aspies and auties have depression, ADHD, GAD, and OCD, and those are just the most common.

Is your psuedo-psychosis/psychosis/delusions precipitated by anything? For example, do they occur spontaneously or do they tend to happen as a response to stressful or depressing situations? Thanks for the questions - questions are helpful. :D My delusions increase enough to cause problems when I'm...

As you may be able to tell from my profile, I have been posting on WrongPlanet for years under the impression that I have Asperger's syndrome. It's not surprising that I have this impression - I've been diagnosed with AS by a psychologist, a psychiatrist, and an entire school system. Yet, after all ...

Someone with 1-10 posts who starts an inflammatory thread about the relationship between Asperger's syndrome and political affiliation could easily be a troll. I used to troll a little in Politics, Philosophy, and Religion, taking a position that I didn't really hold just to see how people would rea...

I have read many of Melody Carlson's books, both for adults and teenagers. She is an excellent author and I enjoyed most of her books. However, Color Me Confused, is NOT a book I would promote. The teenagers today are confused enough. The Bible clearly shows that Bad Company Corrupts Good Character...

Can we stop accusing the OP of child abuse????? She is a desperate woman trying to raise a child with severe Asperger's, not a monster. NEWS FLASH: special interests are not always an endless fountain of joy for autistic children and their families! Back in special ed, I knew aspies who had obesity ...

As a lesbian, I do not find this thread offensive. In fact, I am happy to see someone propose that people shouldn't say homophobic things. Language: I think that the phrase "that's so gay" is offensive, but it doesn't infuriate me. I associate it with frat boys and the girls I went to high school wi...

On the interests debate: if an interest makes a child more functional and might lead to a career, keep it. If an interest is manageable but useless, try to gently use it as a channel to a different interest (playing minesweeper ---> computer programming). If an interest is causing stagnation or regr...

Has never been able to join a group of kids - would prefer to play next to the kids. Wants desperately to have friends. Is very affect...
