Forum: Work and finding a Job   Topic: I would botch these interview questions

Those interview questions are, to put it mildly, bullsh*t. Especially the last one, where the interviewer tells a deliberate lie, just to see how the candidate responds. Why would anyone want to work for someone that manipulative? I wouldn't pay too much attention to articles like this anyway. They'...

carthago: I don't think any western countries flat out deny entry to everyone with autism. But it likely does reduce your chances of being allowed to immigrate into countries like Canada and Australia, where they may consider you a burden on their healthcare systems. I've seen a few articles about f...

Like you, I've never been diagnosed, but I'm probably somewhere on the high functioning end of the autistic spectrum. And I'm completely useless on the phone! An aspie/autism label wouldn't change who you are. You're still the same person you've ever been. It's nothing to get alarmed over. It's not ...

Hi Anna, I'm currently living in Sydney. I have a super awesome dream job at the moment*, but it's so far outside the norm that my experiences would likely be completely useless to anyone else. So I don't know about a support group... I'm probably on the spectrum, but have never been diagnosed. All ...

I wouldn't recommend turning down a LinkedIn request from someone you know, unless you have some personal beef with him, or know he has a toxic personality. Doesn't matter if he's unemployed or unemployable. It's possible one of his contacts might offer you your next dream job. Maybe he'll turn his ...

For me, 2014 was one of the best years for gaming in a long time. It was the year of isometric CRPGs, one of my favourite genres that had been killed off by all the publishers chasing console dollars: Divinity: Original Sin Wasteland 2 Shadowrun: Dragonfall Dragon Age: Inquisition was one of the bes...

I doubt the mind-body problem can ever be "solved" in the sense that we'd get a tidy little theory that explains the entirety of consciousness, including the subjective. It's just too complex. The best we can do is model its components in ever-increasing detail, approaching, but never quite reaching...

I really enjoyed The Longest Journey and Dreamfall (and The Secret World), so I backed this Kickstarter campaign on day one. Glad to see I'm not the only one - they've already raised over $1 million!

The Secret World.

It's so secret that no-one seems to know it exists.

Maybe that's just because the bar of expectation has been set so high. I think this is really the problem. It is virtually impossible to create a game that compares favourably with the best examples in the genre in all aspects, while still doing something new and interesting. MMOs are just too comp...

I rolled a Dragon character on Arcadia. Dragon seem like the most mysterious and philosophically-minded faction, which suits me well. Go with Illuminati if you like comedy and Templars if you want to be the traditional "good guys" (at least in their own minds - none of the factions are truly good or...

Ah, but if the police never check the 90-year-olds, then terrorists might figure out the pattern and start strapping bombs onto grannies... The point is that politically-correct regulations prevent the police using their discretion in implementing a system optimised to the current risk. That, for e...

PC BS is exactly that. In the name of political correctness, police in the UK have ended up doing such foolish things as stopping and searching 90yr old grandmothers in "random checks", whilst allowing cars full of suspicious asian youths to sail by. Despite the fact that every terrorist event that...

Modern society depends so much on the concept of free will for its functioning that the idea of it ( not free will, because it never existed, but the belief in it) , being wiped out is horrific/catastrophic. As a (possibly irrelevant) analogy, I've often seen the term "illusion of choice" associate...

What makes you think that that decision is not determined by brain state, chemistry, hormones, pre-laid tracks, or preset/programmed reactions? Your parents, your genes, your environment, what you ate, the state of your thyroid, your blood sugar level, the data you possess, the information you have...

"Burn up" means the console has a hardware failure (often due to overheating), and needs to be repaired. It's a big problem for 360s, but apparently moreso for earlier models.

I'd still get a 360 over a PS3 though, unless you want to spend more time watching blu-ray movies than playing games.
