I used to have temporal lobe seizures until about 10 years ago. No one could figure out why they started. The doctor I have now said that sometimes they go away at menopause, which seems to be the case here. There does seem to be a connection between AS and seizures. I am not sure why that is, and i... |

I have to work at it, because it is so hard for me to sustain it. I end up looking more at the mouth. But I am not comfortable with it, especially in situations where I feel like I am being evaluated, because I feel like I have to defend myself against the unspoken accusation that I am not telling t... |

Well, I think Hans Christian Anderson said it best in his story The Emperor's New Clothes. The swindlers were able to get away with their hoax because anyone who disagreed with them obviously had s*** for brains. And nobody wanted to be labeled as such, because we all know how society treats those t... |

Ancalagon, the reason why I have reservations about conspicuous displays of religion is because I suspect that it is simply that--a display. "See how holy we are." If I recall correctly, Jesus had something to say on that subject as well, and he did not mince words. He told his disciples that they w... |

I went to a praying school (Catholic) and I went to a non-praying school (public), and I was treated like s**** in both of them because of my Asperger's, so I can't see what the difference is. If a group of students--on their own initiative--want to meet somewhere before school and pray, then I thin... |

While I agree that there are legitimate uses for the word "ret*d", as an insult, I think it has to go. Why do we have to put down people of lower intelligence anyway? I know we all say "stupid" but why is it that lack of intelligence equals fair game for ridicule? I will tell you what the word "ret*... |

Ah, reality! That is something I heard a lot about, growing up. I kid you not. I was constantly lectured on the importance of facing reality. So what is reality? Reality, basically is anything that can be independently verified by one or more people. However, religion, for some reason, is exempt fro... |

Hi, everybody, I promised an update on Calista Springer, the disabled Michigan teen who died in a house fire because she was chained to her bed. Here it is: After a year-long investigation, it looks like her parents are going to be charged with felony murder, torture and child abuse. The Kalamazoo G... |

On March 31 this year, Lions Club International and Special Olympics are kicking off a campaign to end the use of the R-word--"ret*d". I urge everyone on Wrong Planet to get behind this campaign. More information can be found on the Special Olympics website (just google Special Olympics). Come on, e... |

I have, and also a camel. Both were pretty neat. The elephant was a young African elephant, not the usual Indian elephant. Elephants are cool, they have such expressive eyes and trunks.
I would like to pet a whale. |

There is definitely something Asperger's like in my mom's side of the family, and I strongly suspect that two of my siblings have it as well. I have a cousin who also displays Asperger traits. BUT, "don't you even dare say anything to his mother", says my mother. Aspergers is just another one of tho... |

One thing that you might want to keep in mind, is that there are some forms of "Christianity" that may not be healthy to those of us on the spectrum. What I mean is that there are churches and congregations that stress withdrawal from what they call "the world", and this can vary from group to group... |

BUG (like a June Bug) in a can of Hormel scalloped potatoes in ham. All my coworkers saw it. It was GROSS. Sent it to Hormel and they said it was just a piece of burned meat (with six legs??? what species???). |

My base: baby greens (NEVER iceberg), then whatever I am in the mood for or have on hand, usually red or green onions, cherry tomatoes, black or green olives, feta cheese, blue cheese, chickpeas, tuna, usually with Italian dressing. No two salads are alike, though |
