I've been watching YouTube videos of nonverbal autistic people. The ones that type to communicate often say how they can't control their bodies, like their flailing arms and stuff. I've never experienced not being in control of my body and when I stim, I am the one doing it because I like it. It mak...

Why are dogs associated with nt and cats with asd?

Dogs can be obsessed with one person and want to spend all their time with them. Isn't that sometimes an asd trait? Loyalty, naiveness, being like a kid can also be traits shared with dogs.

I don't know if I have problems with executive function. I am an extreme planner and love lists and feel like I can't survive without those things. I lack common sense and the ability to work out how to do tasks in the moment (often due to anxiety making it hard to think and act). If I preplan, then...

thank you - yes the routine side of things is clearly a big part of it. But also like he uses it to separate things - today, for example, he washed his hands when we got in, then again 10min later before he ate a cupcake, then after he had finished the cupcake...The post cupcake bit in particular c...

I have asd and ocd. My OCD gets worse when I need to transition from one activity to another and I can get stuck doing one thing over and over. Any anxious situation can make ocd worse. Having ocd is awful. However, washing hands (despite being part of the ocd) is stress relieving, which is why it i...

I'd been on antidepressants for nearly 10 years. I stupidly decided to come off them because I wanted to know if I really needed them. I tapered slowly etc. It's been a few months since I stopped them and I cry mostly daily and everyday feels like hard and constant work to deal with depression. I wa...

When I was a kid I was intelligent and a hard worker and expected to go places. As an adult I'm a loser with no job. My life went nowhere. I often think that if I'd found out I was autistic when I was a kid, then maybe I would have expected to go nowhere and maybe I would be happier now. I wouldn't ...

I wasn't expecting that. My mum walked into the spare bedroom and saw me wearing my favourite hat. I don't think I can face her tomorrow. I made her vertigo worse.

Your hat gave someone vertigo? Really wondering what sort of hat that is!
