Hello! I've written an essay about neurodiversity and translated it from Russian into English (was driven by that fact that SJW-style neurodiversity came into my country). I hope you will enjoy it Rather recently neurodiversity movement came to Russia. It considers autism not as a disorder but as a ...

ToM is a group lie. We are known for being bad liers. It is one of one common applications of ToM, but it is not ToM itself. ToM is a special instrument for rapid reading of emotional states and intentions of another people, it works directly, without logical thinking, just as intuitive copying of ...

Are you really supposed to look at someone's eyes the whole time you talk/they talk to you ? I think, that you don't have to look all time, it will be considered as "stare". There is another important thing (which is more difficult that interrupt eye contact from time to time): to use eye contact f...

as for the filters it is hard to keep them up all the times, especially when I feel well. can you? I can keep them up most of time, and I know, that neurotypicals have to do it too. Just don't go into monologue and think, how your words will be understood by another people. The talks will require m...

so my filters are dropping one by one and then I just open my head and I put everything on the table, not thinking if something that I’m saying can be attacked or not. You shouldn't drop such "filters", even NT have them. In my native language (Russian) there is a proverb, which can be approximatel...

I think, that in the case of AS majority NT should be taught to express their thoughts and emotions explicitly and not to rely too much on social intuition, non-verbal signs, empathy and theory of mind. But some abilities of NT in AS society may be talents (just as some AS abilities may help them in...

Everything, from how to stand correctly, through to complex layered movements, were taught to me in discrete steps with a number of "checks" (ways to determine if the step is being done correctly). It's exactly my way to learn new dancing movements: my intuitive "copying" is too weak for complex mo...

I attended ballroom dancing classes about 1,5 years ago and began to learn hustle six months ago. I find it rather funny, interesting and healthy (a nice replacement for fitness; improves coordination and makes AS traits milder), but still difficult: new movements are difficult to copy, girls in the...

My question is this; time and again I have read that people with Aspergers/Autism typically have little empathy for others feelings which just isn't me at all. I have high degree of AS traits too (but no official diagnosis), but have empathy too, but it has some differences from "standard": my intu...

I drink alcohol rather rare and moderately, mostly wine. Small doses sometimes help to relax (but it may be achieved even without them), but larger (more than 200-250 g of wine) amounts make me less active, even sleepy, and it makes social skills worse.

Rather familiar situation. But there is a polite way to solve the problem: when NT begins to talk about the essence of the question, show, that you are interested (e.g. with some short answers or small extra questions). If you cannot extract such piece in the conversation, reask the question in anot...

this is the problem, how can i do that within the confines of my difificulties? At first you can limit the length of your monologues, try to make little pauses after your answers in dialogue and observe reactions of another people. An important indicator of their interests are moderately long answe...

I think, that it is a reasonable theory. In my childhood I was obsessed with assembling/disassembling different mechanisms, electric currents, programming in GW-BASIC and another things not connected with socialising with peers. May be, such shifting of interests impedes developing of social skills....

How can i talk to people without annoying people or freaking them out and be able to sound interesting. Try to talk not about yourself, but about interests of another people; you also have to constantly look at their emotions (they can be more important than "bare" words). Avoid monologues about yo...
