Do you mean like a completely nonverbal person? Or what kind of thing? I don't know how long I went without talking the longest. It was long, a week, I think. I write though, texting is much more difficult to stop, lol. I'm hard of hearing and have always been... If your hearing is suited to it, you... |

It's a widespread thing? I've been through CBT that was harmful for me roughly for the stated reasons. Plus encouraging repression. Nobody seems to believe therapy was harmful, not ineffective for me. Everyone says CBT is so scientific and evidence based. I ask - what kind of evidence do they have? ... |

I have celiac disease and I have a gluten-free diet. Gluten-free bread either just isn't good or it's a lot of work to bake it yourself. I find myself consume small amounts of bread. To bake cakes, there are ready made flours, but they're not the best either. I mostly eat rice, potatoes and vegetabl... |

I have a lot of sensory issues and don't function well if asked to task switch and not have a consistent routine. People tell me I'm pedantic, because I organise everything, keep things in boxes, sorted, make detailed plans etc. I can't relate to most autistic spaces online. They make me feel even m... |

Oh, yes, I tell white lies or when someone asks too nosy questions that they shouldn't be asking, like my medical issues or things about my family members. Or I lie / simplify when I really don't want to get into a conterproductive conversation that would be just frustrating and nothing else. But to... |

I'm the blunt type. I feel like it's often expected to tell lies and I don't, which disappoints people. From my perspective, it's really odd that many people tell about facts that never happened and firmly believe they did happen, and I can check for a fact they did not. It's not that they tell thei... |

There are earplugs for noise sensitivity that filter out background noise, but you can still hear speech like in ANC heaphones. I can recommend Loops, I wanted to give a try to Vibes as well. Earplugs appear less obvious in my opinion, but not all people find them comfortable. |

About masking and burnout, I don't have that experience, but not stimming makes me lose focus and act impulsively quickly - textbook ADHD. Controlling body language too much is also exhausting and stressful - Do I stand right? Do I look right? Do I have the right facial expression? Etc. Loop that an... |

"When you meet one person with Autism, you’ve met one person with Autism" The source of much of my confusion is that my son doesn't seem to match the description of this article or of any other ones I read or any lists of symptoms I look at. There's no obvious stimming behavior, no obviou... |

I feel like I get unwanted dietary advice from others too frequently that is geared towards losing weight and I'm normal weight. I have been thinner and believe me, it's not good to be too thin from a health standpoint. People give me unwanted advice to eat less, because... that is their ungrounded ... |

I've done some teaching myself too, so I'll give the professors the benefit of the doubt, they're trying to do a good job (most of them) and I wouldn't assume complete lack of competence, however, there are some communication issues that might stem from lack of awareness. Especially if someone doesn... |
